Anyone have the kershaw combat boot knife

No the one I'm talkin g about is called the military 4351. I should have been more specific but couln't think of the exact name at the time.

If you have one, do you like it? How has it held up?

Wish I could tell you how well they hold up, but I don't have one. I have however always liked the looks of the one-piece drop-forged design, and the price is certainly right.

4.5" blade of German 1.4116 stainless steel, matte-finish
Net-finished POM handle scales
9" OAL, 4.4oz
Injection-molded quick-release sheath with multi-carry options

Knowing Kershaw, I'm sure they more-than-deliver both staying power and useablilty for the $35-$40 street price of this knife...;)

Country-of-origin will trouble some, but it's a Kershaw...they've earned my trust! :D

Ray :)

I bought one a couple of years ago and was very disappointed to see that it was Made in China (although evidently of German steel - note the careful phrasing in the description. In other words. note that "Made in China" is not mentioned in the description, while "German steel" is prominently mentioned). And the sheath ties were a mess; the quality of the nylon was less than stellar.

I returned it.

Well, let's see...

Your use of the word supposedly was pretty carefully phrased, wasn't it? Yes, the knife is Chinese-made, but what makes you think the steel itself isn't sourced from Germany? Was the sheath useable apart from the straps?

You offered 2 reasons for returning the knife, neither of which address the OP's question i.e. speak to the useability or durability of the knife itself. I couldn't see myself using any of the straps supplied with the sheath, either, but I wouldn't return a knife this inexpensive just because it had unwieldy sheath straps, or because it was made in China, if it was otherwise useable.

To each his own...

reholli,

Why are you busting my chops at 4 in the morning? :)
Yet you made a good point and I edited the post.

Thanks,

If it bothers anyone that they are made in China, there are still at times a few of the original ones around that were actually made in Germany , although if you held them in your hand you would not be able to tell them apart. The earliest version had a little different design and I only saw one and he wouldn't sell it. I think you would be pleasantly surprised at the quality for the price. Give it a shot ! I can't speak to how well they hold up, remember I am a collector and I don't use my knives ( el sicko ). :D:D:D

Also, keep in-mind that it is a rather small (skinny) knife.
