I'm in the market for a new phone. I have Verizon and don't want to change.

Does anyone have the Motorolla Droid? If so, what are your thoughts?

I'm thinking I don't want the HTC Droid because I want a physical keyboard.

Yep, I have a Motorola Droid. I've only had it for a few days but so far, I love it. The Motorola does have a slide-out physical keyboard.

Several friends now have them and are excited about and pleased with them. I have examined them. The display is beautiful. They seem well-made overall.

The keyboard is something I really wanted to see. I've long had a "proper" keyboard on my phone. I do a lot more data than voice on my cell. I'm posting this from my phone right now. I recently changed to an iPhone. It, of course, does not have a proper keyboard. So, I was eager to see the Droid's keyboard. What I found is that it is too small and cramped to be useful. I've learned, by the way, to type quite well on the iPhone's virtual keyboard; it's large enough to be usable.

That's the kind of thing I was looking for. I've got to go to the store later and mess around wtth them. I like that the Mot. Droid has a 5mp camera as well. My fingers aren't too big so the physical keyboard may work for me.

In all fairness I haven't used a virtual keyboard before.

Although i also wanted a physical keyboard, I haven't used it once. The glass touch pad is working great for me.

It took me several days to get adjusted to it. But, I am now faster than I used to be on a mechanical keyboard. The important breakthrough on the iPhone is the horizontal keyboard. But, not all aps support it yet.

The iPhone is far from perfect. The Droid looks good to me. But I do think that the Droid's keyboard -- which should be its major asset against the iPhone -- is actually it's weakness.

There is a Droid made by HTC that seems very similar to the Motorolla Droid but withoug the physical keyboard.

Well - I've got a Motorola Droid in my hand now. Once I started playing around with the HTC I couldn't get over how much faster the Motorola moved so I got it. You're right I'm not sure how much I'll use the slide out keyboard but I haven't really texted on it yet.

I'm in the process of copying all of my music over to it now. It is surprisingly simple to use. Once I get that music on I'll mess around surfing the web and such.

The only reason I don't have an iPhone is because they refuse to sell insurance for it. Anybody know if the Droid is insurable??

They ask if you want the insurance when you sign up for it..

I have the Samsung Moment. It is not a Verizon phone but runs on Google Android. So far I really like it. The screen is amazing and the slide out keyboard was a must have for me. It works well for me as the onscreen keyboard is hard to use especially if not being held horizontally.

It has a 3.2 mp camera but without a good zoom lens I don't see the need for increased pixels as you are just increasing the file size and you still have a camera phone picture.

I don't know what kind of apps are available for the Iphone but so far there seems to be lots available for the google platform.

Hi myright -

I am going to get that one.

I have an LG Dare right now, and I have never been able to use the iphone style virtual keyboard - fingertips are too big.

I want a great camera and wifi in my next phone, and the addition of the slide-out keyboard along with the touch screen is great.

I am now eligible for a new phone, just have not gotten over to the V store to pick one up....

best regards -
