Anyone interested in an ultrasonic knife?

I'm definitely not the target market since I do kitchen prep with folding knives but it doesn't look practical, if the knife needs to be rinsed under water for cleaning and you have electrical components, it sounds like a mess waiting to happen.

And who can forget the steel? ;) sadly, it only mentions ''high quality materials'' so its a red flag for everyone here.

Going to need impressive stats for me to retire ol' faithful.

Assuming the 369Sonic kitchen knife reaches production, a pledge of US$348 will get you one. The planned retail price is $390.

LOL! The ultrasonic transducer will be like those in ultrasonic baths - which can be had < $20 - so the transducer is a few bucks at best. The rest looks pretty cheap as well. Make it a total of ~ $ 20 in parts.

"The vibrations are said to only produce a soft whispering noise"

Who is saying the said? Because I'm calling BS.

I watched their video and they make sure there's so much talking. You can't hear it vibrate enough that every dog in the house will start howling.

Yeah...I bet it's quiet.

I wonder how well it would work on things outside of the kitchen. If it was reasonably priced, I'd be interested in an EDC sized knife in a supersteel. S110V would be perfect for something like this; people complain that it looses a razor sharp edge as fast as any other steel, but keeps a toothy edge forever. But if they blade oscillates, a long lasting edge with microserrations would be ideal.

Something like that would be perfect for my little paracord bracelet hobby. I often have to cut ends in tight spaces while holding the cord steady and trying to avoid cutting into the weave behind it. I usually end up holding a knife between my knees and sawing the cord across the blade.
