Anyone know if Tulsa Gun show has a lot of knives?

Hey everyone,

The title pretty much says it all. I went to an Oklahoma City gun show today, and was pretty disappointed in the knife vendors. Only one decent one (Sooner State Knives, lots of nice stuff and very helpful), but for the most part it was $10 junk knives. I was told that the Tulsa Gun show next week is the largest in the country, was debating if I should drive the 1+ up there to go see if. Thanks.

OH heck yeah. If Ozark Cutlery shows you will have available most of the current BM, Spyderco, CRKT, etc at good prices. Locally he sells at or below Mart prices. He's always treated me right - until I moved up out of his market, he's more traditional than my tastes.

I've never seen a Wannamacher show without at least 3 huge vendors - 6 to ten tables, and a least a dozen others, plus all the one display case traders who carry everything.

In 4,000 tables of stuff, there's knives. Bring plenty of cash.

Ozark will be there. Knives and Such ,several purveyors and about 30 custom makers which is a low ball figure. It is pretty well a big cluster about row 6 to 10 right before the drop off to the bottom floor where the majority are camped. What are you after factory or custom?

Very cool, I'll see you guys there then.

Argel, right now I'm looking for higher end factory or maybe some custom stuff, just want to look around. I've recently bought some Chris Reeve Knives, very nice. So I'd like to see some more stuff of the same quality. After looking through the forums here about "nice" knives, I'd like to actually see/touch a Strider, Mercwork, Randall, etc. I have the list of knives I'd like to buy, and if they're at the show I'll pick up one or two, but I just hate to spend a few hundred bucks on the internet and then find out I don't like the knife. :) Been burned once or twice with that, and can't find any place around here that has those knives, so I was hoping Tulsa would come through. Looks like it will, so I'll make the trip. :)

Randalls dealer will be set up on end cap in the middle East West Aisle. A good one from Springfield Missouri. I will be about 6 A Mike Miller

The Tulsa gun/knife show has a lot of EVERYTHING! The Wannamaker show, that is. I'll be running around Saturday myself. :)

is there a website or anything?

i might be able to make it on Sunday

you guys know the hours?

Usually an 8 to 5 kind of thing. Setup on Friday nite where the really real deals happen among show tablers.

Go Sunday early as you can. Most of the bargains are gone by noon Saturday, but as the show winds down on Sunday some start being negotiable, especially as they pack up after lunch.

Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, and give yourself plenty of time. If you have a small carry-able folding stool, that might come in handy, as well. I usually spend up to 7-8 hours there on Saturdays, when I can make it down. I've made quite a few deals there, but it's hard to find folks willing to trade production knives.

Have fun, all of you. I hope to make the show this fall.

Daniel

Don't forget to take a schwag bag - small backpack, or something, to carry all your loot. Don't be surprised if they check it at the door - some bozos still bring loaded firearms into the building! - and you can put in a bottle of water and a snack to beat the high priced concession stand.

Of course, that's part of the ambiance, too, because it's a bit of a drive to get fast food, and a good parking spot when you come back. Every minute off the floor is a lost bargain to some.

Also, check around for the $1 off coupons - auto parts stores and other manly men emporiums have them. Maybe you can score a free pass, they're out there too, usually in the back pocket of the counterman who snagged them from the show guy passing out coupons.

ok so the fall/winter show is done and gone. but let me tell ya
there were a cupla dozen knifemakers there and about six dozen or more guys there who carried every name ya ever heard of knife wise. awesome show. if yr into knives and are in the area(im about 4hrs away) its definitely worth yr time/travel

ps there were some awesome deals like many knife shows. makers having a "show" special. where ya could pick up one sweet knife the dude/ette made just for the show. just sayng. if it's in yr vacinity ya dont wanna miss this show.

pss-musta handled over a hundred randall made knives
more than i've personally seen at one show
ifn yr into that sorta thing
loveless come on-they had em.
it was that sorta show. take yr time
dont miss this one if ya live anywheres in the midwestern/southern region
ya wont regret the trip
just saying

ok sorry for all the posts. that i only answered things as i read em...
things i took-big ass backpack and no one asked me anything about it...
had lunch packed in the vehicle. good to take a break, have some food i prefer to eat and cheaper too. also brought my own caffeine. needed some stimulant to get thru the day. wander back in. the other thing i saw often were other collectors/dealers with equally or larger backpack/packs/briefcases than mine, fulla knives n guns for trade. even had numerous dealers ask me if i had stuff for trade. maybe my bigass backpack made em think so. just thinking that trade is common/expected at this show. so just saying ifn ya gots stuf fer trade ya might as well haul it in. see what happens. but it seemed to me to be the way of the day. i didnt take anything for trade but very well may in april. only bought one knife but the maker has similar knives on his website for a $100 more. i checked some other knives ive been watching on ebay and other online sources. thought the show prices were mostly below what ive been seeing. just saying...
there were a cupla knifemaking suppliers there-you know the names if you make knives. good prices there too. no shipping of course. just thought the prices were better than catalog/online pricing for the most part. once again -imho-a show not to miss if the local works for you in anyway.
