Anyone regularly carry folders on your belt?

I have a wide variety of pocket knives but find myself carrying them on my belt more and more. It’s a matter of finding the right belt sheath for them of course but once I do, the comfort of carrying on my belt blows away the feeling of that same knife in my pocket. I always have a belt on me since I’m always carrying a pistol. I can bend, sit, move etc. without even feeling the knife, no matter how big or how heavy. Carrying a knife in the pocket is another story, especially if wearing jeans with tight pockets. In fact, I can’t think of a single benefit to carrying in the pocket vs. the belt.

Maybe the designers of the Buck 110 had it right all along. Make it a folder but carry it like a fixed blade. Thoughts?

Kinda like this?

I do but not a bunch. More of a small fixed blade guy. All the bennies ya mentioned but ya don't have to unfold the knife when ya need it:

I carry my "medium" folders on my belt. But I do it in an unusual manner (pics). I run my belt through a section of bicycle inner tube, sticking the knife in the tube. The compression and grip of the rubber tube holds the knife securely, and a firm yank pulls it free. It does take me two hands to reinsert it into the tube. I've been carrying like this for many years. I don't remember the last time I clipped a knife in one of my front pants pockets.

I don't like riding with a folder clipped in my front pocket, I find they can get pushed out, and sometimes it's a bit uncomfortable. And a true belt sheath doesn't work for me because a properly fitting motorcycle jacket should be a little snug around the body and a typical belt sheath can stick out a bit, whereas the inner tube is low-profile and smooth.

For awhile now my daily belt carry has been a Cold Steel Ti-Lite 4, along with my Ti-Lite 6.

On a related note, I think it's great the kind of diversity we get on this forum, different types of people, with different knives and ways of carrying them based on our particular needs and tastes. Like for example, Horsewright the cowboy, and me the biker. It takes all kinds :) .

When I was a rookie deputy sheriff in the 70's, I was told I should get a Buck 110 so that was the first knife a carried on my belt. I'd been used to carrying just a little stockman or SAK in my pocket so this was a big change. However, I didn't like the weight of it off-duty and, eventually, only carried it on my belt when camping/hiking back in those years. I later discovered the Buck 501 but ended up pocket carrying that too. When I learned about the one hand opening knives from Benchmade, Spyderco, etc. that I could clip in a pocket, that was and still is my preferred carry. I often carry a fixed blade when hiking on my belt or pack. But I gotta say, Horsewright is looking pretty good with his set-ups!

I have been carrying my Buck 110 on my belt since 1975. And recently occasionally, A Buck 112 or 500, but usually the 110.

My solution for that was a Langlitz jacket with a belt. Kept a sheath for the 110 on the jacket belt.

In my early days (started riding when I was 16), my first leather jacket (classic style) had a belt across the front, but it didn't reach around the sides. I bolted sections of an old leather belt across the sides of the jacket (bolts at one end, snaps at the other ends) and that let me wear stuff on the sides of the jacket. I typically wore my Buck 110 on my right side. I had to be creative living on a bike.

These days my jackets have no belts. I came to prefer a more "minimalist" look to my jackets, and I like to keep my knives out of sight.

My old 110. One of my most prized knives today.

I can understand liking the more minimalist look. Although the classic jacket has a lot going for it when properly built. Many aren't properly built, but that is a whole different conversation. Nothing wrong with your way of carrying your knife.

That is a cool old knife. This was mine.

Unfortunately I no longer have it. It was stolen a few years ago.

I carry a Leatherman Charge every day on my belt. Whether you consider that a folder, I dunno, but it's a knife blade that folds.
In my book the Skinth sheaths are the best out there for multitools. I've got a few larger folders that don't have pocket clips, I'd like to get Skinths for them, too, but one belt-carry is enough for me, and I won't give up the Charge.

I used to carry a trapper or maserin plow (sodbuster pattern) in a case crossdraw sheath. I work in a sales office environment now so I stick to pocket and vest pocket carry.

One of these. I carried it logo in as it angle better that way and sat over the left leg for cross draw.

My step dad always carried a buck 110 on his belt.

I will sometimes carry a folder in a sheath horizontally on my belt. Im right handed but wear it on my left side at around 10-11 o’clock, opening facing in.

I don't own jeans other than a couple of overalls. I am a cargo pants and thai fisherman pants guy. I just clip my folders by their pocket clips to the pant's ribbon with the excess material folded over, they are not only concealed but easy to shift out of the way as needed. Can't get simpler and versatile than this.

I carry my Benchmade HK folder in a leather horizontal sheath from Knives Ship Free. (Large)

I oiled it dark brown
It looks like a glasses case. Non threatening in my NPA

I hate crap in my front pockets

Yes, because a CS Recon 1 is a chunk of a knife. Plus I lost one once when the seat belt grabbed the pocket clip and it fell on the ground at a gas station. When I realized it I rushed back but the clerk said nobody had turned it in. Of course not, who would?

I’ve carried a Buck 110 on my belt some but usually just stuck it inside my back pocket next to my wallet. I carried it that way for around 10 years. Now I don’t carry things in my back pockets so that’s no longer an option. I did think the belt sheath was convenient and pretty comfortable but didn’t like how it sometimes would get caught on something.
Pocket clips are a lot better than having a medium to large pocket knife laying horizontal in my front pocket but still not my favorite way to carry. Being a life long blue collar type of guy I wear carpenter jeans or overalls most day. That tool pocket on the right leg really made things easy for me. I carry my locking folder in there tip down and it’s easy to reach and i have never had one slip out.
