Anyone use Sugru for custom knife handles?

Until your post, I'd never even heard of the stuff. After Googling a bit, I've seen a couple references stating that it's not very resistant to some solvents (like isopropyl alcohol, for instance). That would probably make me shy away from it, if there's a risk of deterioration caused by products used to clean and/or polish knives (most of which use solvents of one kind or another).

Ah good to know (not resistant to solvents). Yeah, lots of solvents in cleaning knives, as well as in lubricants... (such as WD-40, Tuf Glide).
That's too bad. Thanks for the info. :)

Might still be useful in developing a shape you like before you start grinding on whatever your scale material is, though...

I saw a link for this stuff off www.instructables.com and ordered a pack, from the UK to my door in Canada in 3-4 days. Kinda frustrating stuff to work with but so far I fixed a little door hinge in my cars dashboard, some weatherstripping and I made thumb studs for a folding hawkbill knife I had laying around. Its like a giant slipjoint, I molded a ball so that it looks like I cut into it with the spin of the knife and let it harden there, its holding strong to polished stainless, although the back spring is a little strong for thumb opening anyway.
