Anyone used a CRKT Guppie

I am looking for a general use carry all around multitool. I am down to these two - Skeletool and the CRKT Guppie. I like the guppie for the light and small size, but can not find if it has a lock function on the blade or not. I like all the features of the Skeletool, but weight.

Anyone had both of these in hand to compare?

Thanks,
Guppie

I had a Guppie for a few weeks. The blade was not designed to lock because a large segment of CRKT users live in restrictive countries where locking blades are banned, thus CRKT made the blade a slipjoint so more users could carry it.

The Guppie is okay for general use but a regular pair of needlenose/combo pliers is usually more useful for the average user. Maybe look at the Juice series if weight is a big issue, the smaller comparable models are 1-2 ounces lighter than the Skeletool.

Hi,

I have both the Guppie and the Skeletool in my collection. I prefer the Skeletool for EDC as it has pliers, a few drivers and a locking knife blade. The Guppie is a great design and I look forward to adding the Li'l Guppie to my collection, but will still carry one of three things; Skeletool (or CX), Blast or Vic Hunter every day.

For a small multi tool I give a thumbs up to the Leatherman Squirt. At 2 1/4 by 3/4 inch it goes into any pocket easily. I have a Juice Xe6 as well but it way more than three times as much as the squirt

I would pick Leatherman over CRKT any day. CRKT generally makes a solid product, but Leatherman is head and shoulders above.

The Skeletool is way better. As compared to the Guppie it has a better knife and its pliers are better than the Guppie wrench. Screwdriver is pretty much a draw between the two.

I will add to my earlier post. You want an all around multi tool. I would look at the Leatherman Blast, or step up to a Wave or Core. If it has to be light weight then go with the Fuse or Skeletool. I carried a SuperTool for years, and finally upgraded to a Charge ALX. The Guppie just doesn't have the functionality that I look for in a multi-tool. I also trust Leatherman products because they have legitimately been there for me in those minor emergencies.

Nope, never used mine. I consider it a piece of rubbish, probably the worst spent money I ever let go for a knife, tool or flashlight. I've laid a more substantiated review at multitool.org forums.
