Half the price of the Foredom. 1/4HP compared to 1/3HP for the foredom.
I know you should always buy top of the line but is this a viable option?

Thanks

I have a dremel and a weecher hanging over my bench and I use them interchangeably -they perform about the same, but the variable speed feature of the weeecher is handy. From what I've read about the foredoms, neither the dremel or the weecher is really in the same class.

I have the foredom set up and I occasionally use a dremel for polishing small parts. In my opinion they are not even close in terms of quality, function and durability.

Thanks for the links Phil.
Deloid & rasret01, I know that the Dremel is well below the Foredom but I thought that the Wecheer was a little closer.

I know their pretty much considered the bottom of the barrell but I have one of the Harbor Freight 1/4 horse flex tools with 3 jaw chuck handpiece that I have been using for over 5 years with no problems at all, variable speed through the foot pedal and If I remember right it was about 50 bucks. As with any of the HF stuff its the luck of the draw as to quality but this has been a good one. For the price you could try one of these and toss it when it dies. I would buy another.

I have been using the Wecheer for over 4 years. I use the small handpiece lot and the bearings came apart. After figuring out how to take it apart, I replaced them with better quality and have had no problems for over 2 years. The bearings were $6.00 and it runs better than new. For the money, you can't beat it. They list at about $160.00 with the large handpiece at traditional woodworker.com. For another $50.00 you can get a reciprocating chisel for carving all that beautiful wood you can buy with the money you save. They also come up on fleebay.

Even with the positive comments I am still wary of buying something other than the best (Foredom) so sadly I can't go the Harbor Freight way.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
