These are 27" overall, 3/16" thick and about 2lbs. Aranyik seem to get good reviews and 'd like to try one but wondered if anyone has specific information on their hardness and edge retention. Eg whether they stack up to say condor?

I don't know their hardness, but the Aranyiks I have work very well, on par with the Condors. They use 5160 for their steel which works well for choppers like the e-tohs and e-neps at least.

I've done some mail-in grinding work on Aranyiks and the ones I've played with were solidly built, but had very sloppy fit/finish and thick bevels (which is why they were sent in to me in the first place) and had noticeably uneven heat treatment--there were occasional spots that were MUCH harder than the rest of the blade to the point where you could clearly see the difference in wear rate during grinding.

Thanks 42blades. I know from your posts you don't like soft blades like cold steel and neither do I. As such would you put the 'all over the place' heat treat of the aranyik into the P.I.A category for those of us who prefer edge retention on machetes?
