I know Dalton makes some beautiful ones.

I THINK they're illegal, but why would anyone make them if they are?

I can understand autos because police and military can carry them but B.K.s?

If they're legal, I want some for the bus into DC.:D

.

those arent brass knuckles... those are paperweights..... therefor not illegal....:):):)... but really they are sold as paperweights so theyre not illegal, but dont get caught carrying them around, cause as knuckles they are illegal.

I can't carry a "paperweight" in my "manpurse" on the way to work in case someone hassles me on the bus?

DC Code.... sorry

illegal in california.

often times sale or simple possession of items is not illegal, but carry is.

FL CWP covers knux.

as far as WHY they make something if it is illegal - if it IS legal to even own, in one spot, they'll make 'em. just look at fighting birds. Cock Fighting is illegal in all but three states, yet it is LEGAL in alot of places to raise fighting birds for EXPORT to those three states. it's all BS, it's a cover for local bird fighters, but it works (for now)

My mom used to order Brass nuckles for her surplus store. In the catalogs they are marketed as paper weights. She stopped buying them since nobody uses them as paper weights -only highschool kids and younger bought them, probably since they are too young to get into real trouble.

Who uses paper weights in the first place?

Just carry a padlock for your gym locker.
If you pick the right size you'll have an effective one knuckle fistload.
Get a sturdy pen as well.

Speaking of padlocks. I was watching the History Channel and they showed this biker gang who carried moslty legal weapons. In their back pocket they kept a big padlock with a bandana tied to the loop -so that both ends of the bandana would hang out of their pocket. They could wip it out real quick -like a makeshift blackjack. I thought it was prety creative. Look out for anybody with two bandana ends flailing out of their back pocket, there just might be a heavy duty padlock attatched in the middle.

They also would carry a full size MagLite in a ring-holster on their belts.

Funny that brass nuckles are ilegal when you can just be creative and come up with better weapons that wont get you arrested... Stupid laws.

Ball Pein hammers are also popular and effective.
Those suckers go up to 40 onces.A few modern claw hammers are every bit as effective as a medieval war hammer.Get yourself a small sledge hammer and you can change your name to Thor.
Then there are coin blackjacks,"A leather quarter holder with a handle"
There are combat belts made heavy with studs and lead belt buckles as well as super heavy duty key holders.
They even have "book holders" which are similar to slap-jacks to keep your book open to the right page.
Everyone knows about the tactical pens and flashlights by now.
It is stupid to ban certain weapons when replacements are easy to find.
But,that's the mind set of half the country.Be soft on crime and criminals and take their toys away and violence will disappear.
They don't have a clue.

legislation nor law enforcement can reasonably be expected to account for the creativity of those intent on injuring others.

hence, laws are often written in a very general fashion to accomodate "makeshift" items like those you mention.

as far as metal knuckles, they serve no purpose other than as a weapon. if there is another legitimate purpose, other than the novelty claim of a paperweight after the fact, i am not aware of it.

They seemed to be getting away with the padlock/ black jack -at least that was their claim.

I would asume there is really nothing a police officer or even a court could do about the magtlite as a weapon -unless it was used offensively rather than defensively.

These criminals are orginized too -thery can aford great lawers, so they could have a decent chance at getting away with just carrying a padlock/ bandana blackjack so long as it was not proven to have been used -just carried.

the maglight is a tough one.

but i think i could articulate the padlock/bandana depending on circumstances. it would be difficult to argue a legitimate purpose for such an item.

true -especially if you are part of a violent biker gang

I always felt like "precautionary self-defense" should count as a "legitimate purpose," but it almost never does in the eyes of the law. I know, the aforementioned biker could use that to evade prosecution. I don't want the biker's getting away with stuff, but shouldn't we prosecute said biker for threatening or hurting people with that padlock-bandana, instead of just carrying it? I feel like so many weapon laws were made out of "spite" to get gang members (i.e. X gang carries this item, so lets ban it so we can arrest them). It seems like a dumb motivation for legislation, and if you think back over history to the periods when they wrote these laws, a surprising number seem to have been written for that purpose.
