the title says it all
all opinions are welcome, and I don't have one because I have never had one of these.

There is nothing wrong with the blade grind as long as you stay away from the ones with the wonky dual edge design. The 511 and the larger Companion are more along the lines of a traditional type grind.

don’t make my heart go pitter patter

Exactly. I have one Mora. It is in my EDC backpack at all times. And by that I mean, even the times that I am cutting stuff with some other knife. If it came down to it though, I would be able to cut whatever I need to with it. I just never want to.

Hard to go wrong with Mora, especially at the price point they generally sell for.

Moras will do the job. They’re good enough if you ever need them, and cheap enough to buy multiples of and throw them into your packs, vehicle, etc.

This is my view as well. Great value, not a grear knife, per se. But they're generally plenty good to get the job done and if that's what you're after, then purchase away.

Of the options, the companion id probably the best bang for the buck, IMO, but the kansbol is my favorite. The classics are decent too, but the handles aren't the most secure and are on the small side for my preference.

Some people really like the garberg, but at that price, I'm after something different with a different grind.

I think BPS is a good competitive option, particularly their carbon steel offerings. I like them more for similar money. The woodlore copy in particular I like.

Yep, it actually defies logic they can be so good for so little $$$.

With that said, the grind takes some getting used to, and they don’t make my heart go pitter patter like some of my other knives do.
Exactly. So much value. Making handles for their blade blanks is also incredibly fun. My first Mora ended up in the shop and I use it for jobs that I really ought to be using fine chisels or box cutters for. Still unbelievably sharp despite the abuse.

These Mora knives are like those steak knives that you have been using and abusing for 50 years. They are nothing to get excited about, but they work and are darn near indestructible.

Mora are great cheap knives. The grind makes them easy to sharpen - the n1 rule for a sharp knife is following the angle and the wide scandy grind makes that easy by providing a lot of surface. That same grind though makes them a bit limited in use. I often cook and rarely use dedicated kitchen knives, I enjoy grabbing something out of my collection or whatever is in my pocket. The grind of a Mora is not suited for fruits and vegetables. Meat it can deal with fine, in fact I own one with rubber handle that is my dedicated knife for culling and dispatching our meat chickens.
A similar brand that is worth looking into is Hultafors. I own one Mora and one Hultafors, both stainless steel, and in my experience the Hultafors holds an edge longer. The sheath on the Mora is better though.
