  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Are old Buck slip joints fairly rare?

I wouldn't call them especially rare—that's a pretty subjective thing. However, finding a 1st Version Schrade contract 301 in good shape like yours isn't easy. That version may be the most sought after 301. Good for you.

Look unused! How is the finish and action on the blades? I ask because I have come across older knives in new condition because of a defect.

It has been sharpened a little bit, don't notice any defects really. Just seems like a survivor.

You don't see early ones for sale on the bay often..Maybe once a month? Because of the 'crimp' on the bolsters marks it as a first year and is fairly distinctive collectors of the series try to add one to the collection..It is sought after. NIB (correct box with paper work) are seldom seen and will start a bidding war at times. A Spa from Buck WILL make it look new since its so close.
