I am a big fan of the old EC Simmons Keen Kutters, very nice knives. They are my only experience though.

The tangs did say Simmons on em. I am just going to get them he only wanted a few bucks for each of them.

Thanks.

The history of Simmons is one of fine made tools. I have a few Simmons Keen Kutters and they are very fine knives. Read about the history of the Keen Kutter brand here:

If he only wants a few bucks then what do you have to lose;)

I picked these up for a about 6 bucks and I love them.

I collect vintage logging hand tools and Simonds (note one M) was famous for their one and two man logging saws. The Simonds Royal Chinok is considered by collectors to be the holy grail of two man saws. The steel and the special grind of the saw, a crescent grind was unparalleled by other makers. Keen Cutters was also an axe brand that is very well thought of by collectors. I don't have any of their knives.

Here's a picture of my 78 inch Simonds Royal Chinock No. 503 with the correct western style handles on it. It is a Lance tooth pattern, which was designed for sawing soft woods like pine and redwood.
