Are there any Credit Card companies (banks) that don't outsource Customer Service?

Please don't turn this into a political discussion about the evils of outsourcing. There's a better place for that.

The thing is this: I have 3 credit cards. Citibank, Bank One/Chase, and Providian. All 3 outsource their customer service to India.

No offense to Indians, but I can't understand them. And I'm sure they don't understand what I'm saying 100% either.

I'd like a card that doesn't have a call center in a foreign country, so that a) I can understand them, and b) so that I can give business to a company that supports Americans.

Any reccomendations?

You'd think that, huh? I honestly don't know. Don't AMEX's work differently than other cards in some way though?

Most of the financial companies will outsource their call centers to India during US off hours (their on hours). You'll typically get a non-foreign worker when you call during normal business hours. I believe Discover Card and Amex is still based in the US.

You might have acceptance issues with AMEX vs Discover. AMEX charges rates that some merchants find cost prohibitive, so they don't accept them.

Discover Card's help desks are, TTBOMK, all still located here in the US.

Oh, one more thing. My sister works CS for MBNA...they drfinitely are not foreign. Look for an MBNA credit card.

My Chase Visa typically gets answered in the USA during "regular" hours, until recently in NY. But that may be because it's a Platinum.

The Amex green I have for work got answered in India, but when I asked for a supervisor( I had a minor problem)it got rerouted back to the USA.

MBNA has an awful lot of call centers here in the USA, so they may be a better bet than some of the others.

You'd think if they sounded American that they would be American.

Think Again!

There was a news special on TV a while ago on how US companies that outsource are spending millions to teach them how to speak proper english. Even going as far as to teach them how to talk with a southern accent....yah'll.

We really need to get a list together of what companies do not outsource anything.

Actually, what they were trying to do was teach them to speak American. There was a similar show on satellite TV here a few days ago where a bunch of Indians were attending a training course where they were trying to teach them how to speak Australian. It was very amusing!
