Are there any watch band Compasses worth a damn?

I personally don't like wristband for the same reason I don't wear wristwatches... I bust them up QUICK.. Just my 2 cents worth..

i have had a suunto watchband compass, on my watch for the past few years... it's not bad at all... it works just fine.. it's not too bulky.. i don't always wear the watch though... it usually rides in my pocket...:o

I was looking at this recently too. Wanting to upgrade my watch and have a compas included. Man, the price jumps up quickly.

QFT Fiddleback.

I like a nylon wristband - I usually have a compass with me - but it would be nice to have one on my watch. I don't want to pay SO much more for it though.

Wristband compasses are very basic. Keeps you going in the approximate right direction. Great for keeping orientated but not for precise navigation. Good for back-up and you always have it available. Remember that heavy metal ,electric watch may have some effect on it.

I have a Suunto Clipper on one of my watch bands. It seems to work pretty well and is cool to boot.

I got the compass on Amazon Suunto Clipper

I have a Silva one which is good but like Zman said they are only for a general guide and back up use !

You could always buy a IWC/Porsche Design Compass Watch but they're long out of production and are a bit on the expensive side. :D

There's a cheaper Maratac AQC made by Timex as well.

I think the biggest problem with a compass on the watchband is that you have a hunk of metal right next to it which is bound to mess with the reading. I think the better choice is to get one that's on it's own band and wear it on the other hand, something along the lines of the Suunto M9, SandY or Marathon.

my tissot t-touch's compass is pretty damn accurate.

might wanna take a look at tissot for your watch..

never seen a wrist band compass before though.

cheers

Personally I dont use one thou I do own one. I found as I get older, I cant read any of them without my reading glasses on. I have a decent handheld one I keep on me that I can read day or night without question, so I stick with that.

My Casio G-Shock Pathfinder PAW1300 series has a compass that seems to be dead-on.

I don't use a watch band compass, my watch is a compass! It is a timex expedition digital compass.

ok - I feel like an idiot...my watch does NOT have a watch-band compass....I totally misunderstood the OP's question....:foot: :foot:

But yes, the watch has a compass feature that works nicely.

I had never heard of a watch-band compass before today....! *shrug*

i have a casio sea pathfinder that was about $150 on some store's online sale several years ago. The casios are righteuous. the pathfinder triple with the altimeter is probably what i'd buy today.

thermometers require several minutes to adjust to ambient temp after being on skin, but i only really check that in the morning when i wake up and around a lunch break.
