Are those $5 cold steel plastic knives sharp? I saw a video where they were cutting open boxes with them, I had assumed you could only poke holes in junk with them

Like what do you plan on doing with it? Actually I don’t wanna know we all know what they are for lol

They’re sharp enough to cut like paper can give you a paper cut. I imagine if you put it up against flesh and pushed down very hard and drew the blade fast across you could probably cut someone. Or imagine like a butter knife; dull to the touch but it could still cut you under the right circumstances. They aren’t sharp like a steel blade.

Other guys make knives out of g10 and carbon fibre which are likewise sharpish.

Good luck hijacking that airplane.

You know, if one were to run the edge over repeatedly enough, the heat generated from the friction will eventually cause first degree burns plus there might be a static discharge strong enough to jettison someone across the room... and probably still no cut :)
Well, not unless one has melon skin dna.

You could probably mash the edge through stretched packing tape enough to open a box. They do have an edge that is slightly sharper than the spine, but it's more of a pokey knife obviously.

I bought one of the triangular ones on a whim. The edges are sharp enough to give you a cardboard cut if you slid it through your fingers in a tight grip.

I dont have any real use for it, so it just sits in the drawer. I think it would be more useful and less likely to get you tossed in the back of a cop car if I just cut the tip off and smoothed out any sharpness to the edges and used it as a lightweight impact tool.

But then again, I dont really have much for those either.

for what it is it's pretty sharp. the couple I have are. never tried but someone said use a fingernail file /emory board to sharpen it. I'd imagine it would work. never sharp like steel but for what it is.......

I had a “letter opener” that I think was made by cav arms in AZ in the 00s. It was shaped like a tanto on one side and was just unshaped flat plastic on the other side. You could stab stuff and open letters but that’s about it. These sounds like a higher quality version of the same thing

The serrated models can cut better than the PE but none of them will really take an edge like steel . They are mostly for stabbing rather than slicing .

Ok like I know. Get a pork roast and wrap it in an old pair of jeans. Let us know
