Hi All,

I would like a small arm band I can wear with a small fixed blade knife, for times when I go running or other very active pursuits and I don't want something hanging around my neck and bouncing around. Does anyone make an armband that would go well with a small fixed blade knife, a knife that would traditionally be worn around the neck? It should be adjustable so that it can be tightened or loosened depending on circulation, clothing, etc. Any ideas?

You can get strips of velcro tape and sew a couple onto a sheath. This would hold pretty well and be easily adjustable.

You might want to check out HideAway knives by FrontSight. It would be easy to buy a pair of SheathSticks to stick a knife on any type of armband you would wish to buy or you could use zip-ties, velcro, etc. She has many options for securely carrying a small blade as covertly as possible.

I have used a sewed band of ACE bandage in the past...hold well, slips on, you can wash it, etc...in my application it was for ankle carry.

Just measure it well and get your Betty Ross on :)

Maybe I should have specified; I want it to look as neat as possible, not like something homemade.

Lemon, do you have a URL for Hidaway?

Not affiliated with the company in any way, just a very satisfied customer. My wife also carries one of FrontSight's HAKs and she has become very particular about her knives since her conversion to a knife person.

Just get an arm band intended for an MP3 player, and a scrap of kydex. Then you can make a [scrap-kydex / armband / kydex sheath ] sandwich, screw the sheath and scrap together securely so that the band doesn't move around, and now you have a nice neat armband that will hold your knife.

Alternatly, you could use a shoulder harness, so the knife hangs between your arm and body.

Spyderco SPOT and a sweatband would work just fine. You can easily attach the sheath to the underside of the band with a few stitches and the knife can be pulled out with no issues.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I should have been more specific in my inquiry, however. I intend to wear this armband between my shoulder and my upper bicep. I don't think any sweatbands I've seen could comfortably fit there.
As far as MP3 armbands go, that would be a great idea, unfortunately I don't see any plain ones readily available without an integrated MP3 case or some similar crap. Any ideas on sources?

Thanks!

You want to wear it like the guy in the pic on this auction:

There are about a million people selling that same armband on ebay, and it should be easily moddable to hold a sheath instead of an mp3 player. Just cut a slit in the bottom of the pocket, and then insert the sheath in the top, and fasten it inside. Maybe use velcro? Or use a sheath that has a belt clip, and just clip it over the top of the pocket, with the knife going out a hole in the bottom?

Or you could use this armband (comes with an ipod case, but the case is removable, and you can give it to someone with an ipod). http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...tToStoreCat&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget

I'm sure you could figure something out.

If you had a kydex sheath for whatever knife you use, you could just run some paracord through a couple of the eyelets and tie it to your upper arm, I heard of a member hear doing that with a lil loco.

Hey there, check out Survival Sheath Systems. THey have a few options that might suit what you are looking for. Another thing you might consider taking a look at if you dont have a specific knife in mind is kabars TDI law enforcement knife rig. Good luck to you.
