Arrowhead for a spear?

I'm intrigued by the arrowhead but still trying to figure out how/when/where/why to use it. In reading about it somewhere, I saw that the hole in the middle is there in case you want to use it for a spear tip. I could see lashing the back end to the side of a shaft would be doable, but trying to figure out how you would affix it to the end of the stick using the hole. Anyone have a photo of this?

I will try to explain how I would use it:
I would tie some line through the hole in the arrow head, and then attach the line to myself. I'd then attach the arrow head to a spear shaft in a way that would allow it to come out easily. That way when you spear something the head would come away from the shaft, but then still be attached to the line you'd be holding. I think it'd work well for frogs and fish, maybe birds too.
I think that makes sense, let me know if you have any questions.

Makes sense, just sounds a little pornographic.

I wouldn't use it for much other than spearfishing, frogging etc-the first hard impact with the ground or a rock and that thin little razor is going to sna-ap!

you gotta be kidding pr, have you seen one of the arrowheads first hand? there the same thickness as the izula. believe me its not gonna snap, nor is it a thin little razor blade.

nope, never seen firsthand, but I definitely wouldn't be using my HEST (same thickness) as a spear either.... the Izula isn't double edged either, nor does it taper to a sharpened point... it's got a good strong spine instead of drastic tapers along both sides of the blade...

well its not a knife its a arrowhead, the grind gives it a diamond shaped cross section which is very tough. its not gonna snap on dirt, the same design has been in use for centuries pokin holes in animals. no i wouldnt use the hest as a spear unless i had to, but it would work if it needed to. on the other hand im not as concerned about a 12 dollar arrowhead as i would be a 100 buck knife.

It's tougher than you think !

I made a Dave Canterbury-style sling bow with an AH-1 on a skinny piece of pipe. I shot it all afternoon into a hard-wood pallet ,with Zero ill effects. I thought it would at least bend the tip ,but didn't happen. Rowen's heat treat rocks.

CAUTION. Be very careful tying anything sharp to a string and then to yourself and then stabbing it into an animal/fish etc.. The line could take a load and then the sharp item can become free and snap right back at you causing serious injury/death. It seems esee items have a nature to bite given the right circumstance, and in no case would want one of their arrowheads to come flying at me.

I have one attached to the front axle of my dirt bike, use it to take out the competition...
