I recently found out that my baton is an "ASP" brand, and I was wondering if you all have a way to make them quiet. what did you use to silence yours?

Yeah, that helps, I have the 26 model that is a steel slip-joint and I finally put a small wrap of masking tape on the tip that helped somewhat.., but it sticks a little bit.Is it friction lock? They all have some rattle because the telescoping metal is free floating in the shaft until its extended and friction holds it in place. If its extended and rattles you either have an autolock (model with the push button release) or you have a bad baton. You could try and conceal it deeper iwb, to try and mask the sound a little more. My batons rattle some but not overly loud, equivalent to keys or change in your pocket. Hope that helps.
Ooh yeah, I've seen those clips for sale for when they wear out. I actually just found out that my baton is the ASP brand. I had never saw the brand on the middle tube when it was extended until this week, and I've had it for about 9 years now.You can try opening up the spring clip that's inside the tail cap. Don't open it too much.
At one time I just rolled up a small piece of paper, and stuffed it around the tip. It was enough to keep it from rattling, but not enough to stop it from extending.
Later, for having it on my bicycle, I used a rubber cane tip to just cap it off. Turned out to be a good idea. When a couple of pitbulls attacked my dog(also a pitbull), the baton was better used in the closed position. The dogs were fighting at my feet, if I had extended the ASP, it would have been akward and less effective.
OTOH, getting the rubber tip off does take one extra step, although it comes off when pulled, it's another fraction of a second that may count.
At your front door, I wouldn't do anything to stop it from extending, you can choose to step back from an intruder. In my case, I had that baton there to fight off dogs, not people so much.
