Hello everyone! I was wondering about buying an an old ax head and making it myself. Want to see your recommendations on what heads (brands) to buy and what prices would be appropriate.
I'm just asking about types of heads and which ones are best, NOT about promoting any sellers.

What country do you live in ?

I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking. Here in the US, most manufacturers sell intact tools already assembled. If you want to carve your own handles (a practice I enjoy), the usual thing is to look at thrift stores, yard sales, swap meets and perhaps farm auctions. Prices are all over the map.

Vaughan & Bushnell are my favorite, but Plumb and True Temper are also good, and there are many others.

I usually take about 100 bucks to my nearest swap meet. When I’m also looking for knives and old tools, it doesn’t take me long to fill up a bucket.

Thanks! Now I know that it is better to find them at farm market and places like that. The thing is that I want to find some old heads, even with some rust will be fine.
Also, what kind of wood is fine for handles and where can it be found? Like, maybe stores or some wood supply places.

It depends what country you're in.
In the US we use hickory most, in Europe it's white ash.
You also may not be able to find any of these brands of axes around unless you're in the US and maybe Canada.
