What are your thoughts on these axes boys?

a few years ago wranglerstar made a video on them, the steel was very very soft, but that was a while ago, so, might be fixed. personally i wouldnt do it but if you want to you can grab one

Iv got one of those. The canadian one even. I got it for $5 as it had been ground a bit off. Fixed that up and its been ok.
Its an ok axe. the steel may not be as hard as an older american ax but it seems sufficient.

As a basic axe it will do, however it is very plain jane and dosent really have anything to get excited about.
If you want a cheap beater and want to look no further then it would be an ok buy. But I think if your'e happy to rehang something, let along rehang a brand new bahco axe then you would be much better served picking up an old ax or ax head and rehanging that.

I think you should only buy it if you want a finished product. If you are willing to hang something then get something else. With all due respect I cant understand why you would buy one of those and rehang it. If you are willing to hang something. Hang something proper. If you already had the head and it needed a new handle it could be excused. But not an off the shelf Bahco.

just go to ebay and search vintage axe :) or kelly axe, or plumb axe..the world will open up and you will never look back.
cheers

Despite the "Proudly Manufacturing in Europe" slogan on the Bahco website, some of their tools (like the 14.25" Camping Axe) are now being made in China (according to the listing on Amazon), so I wouldn't be surprised if those axes were, too. FWIW.

I've also seen it extensively reviewed by someone other than Wranglerstar that reported poor performance, edge bending AND chipping.

Well boys, you convinced me to buy a proper axe, here in spain we got a brand,Bellota(acorn)that makes very good tools with a very good steel and they have a fantastic reputation here, ill try buying one of their axes, thanks you for your advices and i recommend you all to have a look on spanish axe brands, they are very reliable and most are manufactured here by the sons and grandsons of skilled craftsmen

well, if you take care of it, your grandkids will have grandads axe, the story, and a very nice tool. thats something im looking forward to in the years, being a grandpa and telling my grankids how to take care of their tools, how to use'm all that.

It wasn't Wranglerstar that evaluated that axe, it was another blogger :). Fwiw. But spot-on w/ the rest, gents.
