Hello,

I have a band saw Makita LB1200F but its speed makes it non usable for cutting metal (500m/min and 1000m/min) where we need about 20-120m/min speed...

And I looking now on Makita 2107FK portable band saw + SWAG v.3 table.
This will be a good stuff for initial cutting blanks ?

Or is it possible to slow down LB1200F? ( I have 230-240V AC 1 phase ver. Europe )

What cutting tape is best to cut G10 ( I blunt wood cutting tape on this o.O )
And what could be the reason for the cutting tape to going to side, while cutting?

Second: What Anti-scale compound will be good for NC6, 80CrV2, O1 steels?

Cheers,
Konrad

This will be a good stuff for initial cutting blanks ? Yes.

Or is it possible to slow down LB1200F? ( I have 230-240V AC 1 phase ver. Europe ) Yes but only by using gears/pulleys or replacing the motor with a 3-phase and VFD.

What cutting tape is best to cut G10 ( I blunt wood cutting tape on this o.O )
And what could be the reason for the cutting tape to going to side, while cutting? I use bi-metal blades from Starrett.

Second: What Anti-scale compound will be good for NC6, 80CrV2, O1 steels? ATP-641 works well as does thinned down refractory clay.

Cheers,
Konrad

I hope this helps.

Thanks for tips :)

Best way for me will be to buy 2107FK + SWAG v.3 , and this ATP-641 compound :)

Thanks for the link. Have you used this on a blade? What where you thoughts? Thanks

I use it and it works great IMO once you get down the method of application and you give it enough time to dry. If your blade isn't clean, the compound doesn't dry, or you apply it incorrectly, it works horribly.

Just take a method of apply this like Ceracote but without sandblasting?

Clean knives -> Soak in acetone for 15 minutes -> preheat -> apply ATP-641 -> Give this about 1-2 hours -> apply second time -> 1-2h drying -> HT ?

ATP-641 can be applied by spraying ?

As far as cutting G10, it does tear up wood blades (tapes). Recommendations include using an abrasive wheel, especially a diamond tile blade (wet). You can also use your portaband with a fine bi-metal blade although it will get chewed up eventually, just not as quickly as the wood type blades.

The blade flexing and moving side to side is generally the result of a dull blade, not enough blade tension, and/or too high of a feed rate.

Good luck!
