Hey guys,

I'm looking to pickup a Bird & trout knife over the next few weeks. I'm looking to keep it under $200 and i ended up finding a lon humphreys desert ironwood closer to $300. Disappointing...
I came upon the bark river and it fits the bill, but i can't seem to find ANY anywhere. Do you have any idea where i can find an in stock one or when dealers/what dealers get them first?

Not to derail your thread if you're set on the Bark River, but what about a custom instead? For example...

Well, the pre-orders for the CPM 154 are being taken now. I'm not sure what the price is. BRK only has 2 US distributors. DLT Trading and KnivesShipFree. Both have $25 pre-orders up for the CPM 154 version which means they should ship sometime soon. Covid issues *might* delay production and shipping of course.

Jordan from DLT Trading (a long time, active, supporting member of BF here, KSF doesn't support BF) might be able to shed some light.

Any info/help for the OP?
Also, is the S45VN version I've seen mentioned online an older run of B&T knives or an upcoming one?

BRK timelines are always a bit haphazard, (gotta go through water jet, heat treat, surface grind, etc at 3rd party vendors before it gets to BRKT's facility) but as of now we should see those in the fall.

North Arm knives in Canada makes a very similar knife in S35V. It is so nice that I got one of their paring knives for the kitchen. The only downside of the knife is that it comes with too fine an edge - it is sharp, but the included sharpening angle is too small for S35V and it could lead to chipping. I put a secondary bevel on the knife and that fixed the problem. The paring knife gets lots of use and is identical to their bird and trout. The only real differences are that their bird and trout comes with a sheath and a lanyard hole.

I have that model, not as classic in its lines and design, but its an awesome user.

Funny you say that, i was looking at their knife as well. $88 gets you alot as far as i can see. What do you use for belt attachment besides tek-lok? And if i reprofile, what angle did you do yours at? Or did you do a micro bevel?

No pre-order fee at KnivesShipFree.

Smoky Mountain Knife Works, Knife Center, BladeHQ also carry Bark River knives.

Just to be clear, the $25 isn't a fee, its a deposit. That $25 is taken out of the cost of the knife when its ready for purchase, we also include a $20 gift card in the box with each purchased BRK pre-order.

SMKW, KC, and BHQ do carry Bark river, but they purchase through blue ridge so only have access to a limited selection of the basic micartas, and not the whole range of materials like DLT and KSF.

Good point. I should have given more info in my post.

If you go to the BRK website, they list 4 vendors. DLT and KSF in the US, one in Canada, and a European distributor.

Bark River's site seems like a wasted opportunity. I don't know what they are trying to achieve with it.

I am not on Facebook, so I don't know what Bark River is doing over there.

They don't sell anything direct so they don't put a whole lot of effort into it other than helpful info like warranty information. All their inventory is sold through DLT, KSF, and anyone who purchases from Blue ridge or one of the Euro/Can dealers.
