Hi, I just recently purchased a Bark River Bushcrafter 2 and I want to find out what the sharpening angle is. Does anyone know the degrees ? Thanks in advance

Bark River makes convex ground knives, meaning it won't be a fixed sharpening angle. There's a whole different technique to sharpening convex edges that you probably want to look into. A lot of people just use a strop and different compounds to keep those edges sharp.

Okay thanks, I have a worksharp that you can set the angle to a specific degree. So that won’t work with my BR then unless I would want to change it to a flat grind

Yeah a precision adjust or any guided sharpening system won't work. You'd have to remove a lot of material to get a usable V-edge on a convex ground knife and (IMO) a v-edge would just ruin the knife. Convex grinds are great and not too hard to maintain, they're just different and require a different skill set to keep sharp.

the powered worksharp knife & tool sharpener that uses abrasive belts works perfectly on convex grinds from the factory such as bark river. Best to use belts in the higher grit range as very little material needs to be removed to refresh a dull edge.

Or you can use strops with a polishing or abrasive compound as suggested by kafolarbear, which now that I think about it, does the job most of the time.

Edit: also remember the folks at bark river are friendly and want to help; just contact them with questions like this and I am sure you will get a prompt answer.

I hone my convex ground knives by pulling them backwards across the hone rather than edge forward. Works fine.

I just use a leather strop with their white compound or a 3 micron or a 6 micron diapaste. No need to remove material really with a belt. Also they will do it for free I believe (not sure)?

I sharpen my convex knives with the old sandpaper (5-6 grits) and an old mousepad method, then finish up with a leather & compound strop.
It'an old established method for those of us without belt grinders. You can find plenty of "how to's" on youtube.
