BBQ propane tank to bernzomatic torch adapters

Hi again,

In addition to ebaying a small premade forge to get started, it turns out a buddy had a bernzomatic he never uses, minus the little disposable tank.

I've seen people say you need an adapter to use the bernzomatics with a large/conventional propane tank (which I'm going to have anyway for the forge).

Are all of the 20 lbs tank to 16.4 / 14.1 oz appliance adapters pretty much standard/compatible?

Will I need a regulator on the hose or is running straight from the 20 lbs tank thru an adapter hose to the torch dandy?

You need a hose that has a POL fitting on one end, and a disposable tank fitting (often called "appliance") fitting on the other end. They carry them at camping stores, Sears, welders supply,...and of course - ebay.

And at Wal-Mart and other big box stores. Look in the BBQ grill section to adapt a tabletop grill to a big tank.

Are you considering using it in your forge? I had made one of the Zoeller Mini Forges and found that propane didn't provide enough heat with the Bernzomatic. I had to switch to MPS(MAPP) gas, which is costly and not easily available in bigger tanks.
