OZARK CUTLERY represented that they had new Buck 110s with BG-42 blades in stock at what I thought was an attractive price. I ordered two (2). When I got them, I thought I recognized them as another model, not BG-42. I called BUCK KNIVES and got the typically excellant attention to customer service/satisfaction. I was advised as to the approx. date of manufacture, the limited nature of this model variant and the fact the the blades WERE NOT BG-42!!! I called OZARK, they claimed it was an honest mistake, and agreed to give me a refund on the knives, but I wound up keeping one anyway and they knocked something like five dollars off the price.

Could have been an honest mistake. I think I would have only posted if they refused to rectify their mistake. Heck, they even knocked off $5 for your troubles. Stuff happens sometimes. Just my $0.02

Your title indicates bad service, but your post indicates good service.

So is the glass half full or empty?

Hey guys, lighten up! The post title says BE CAREFUL. Had I not been semi-knowlegable and semi-suspicious I would not have called BUCK, would not have found out the blades were NOT BG-42 and would have lived on thinking I got something which I did not.

The text of my post is the accurate truth as to what happened when I called Ozark. They apologized, said it was an honest mistake, offered to give me my money back and wound up making a small concession on price. Hey, I even bought a knife sharpener from them while I had them on the phone.

Like I said, like I meant - Be Careful.
That's all.

Sounds ok to me... Mistakes can happen and they willingly made effort for resolution.
I wish other companies in other industries did the same.

Imagine an automaker with the same level of service we have with knives and some guns...
LIFE TIME service and guarantees, free sharpening etc...

200,000 mile truck - take it in - "Hmm it aint right no mo..."
Automaker "Hell, sorry son, here's A NEW ONE!"

Nimrod, IMHO this could have been written up as good if you would have said that OZARK CUTLERY made a mistake and knocked off $5 for it.

It seems you are looking for the bad.

Now I'm one to look for the Buck 110's in "french green" with BG-42 steel. I've contacted many dealers and have heard that they could fill my order. Just before I placed an order, I would ask the dealer if he had one at hand. "Sure" was the reply, then I asked him if he saw "BG-42" stamped on the blade. If the answer was no--then I thanked him and went on. If he said "yes" I proceeded with the order. I found this method to be the best to insure I was getting what I paid for and the dealer was happy as well. Just my two cents.
