Im trying to decide between bear grylls pro knife or Camillus Les Stroud Ultimate Survival I have watch alot of reviews but cant make up my mind what do you guys think?

Personally I think you'd be better off with a Mora and getting the addons separately. Not to beat anyone's knife up but the Bear grylls and Camilus knives are junk. A Mora and a lightmyfire fire steel will serve you much better.

Or any number of Beckers, Ontario knives, Esee and a ton of others would serve you better. With better materials, better sheaths, better everything.

If it's within your price range, I really like the CS SRK, it's relatively cheap, about $60-70 on amazon, and it's easy to resharpen due to it being Aus-8, but it does hold an edge pretty well. If you want a knife like it, but better quality, i'd go with a Fallkniven A1 Survival Knife, but those can run up to about $200, so it's really just about what you need and your price range. IMO stay away from anything Gerber and Bear Grylls, i bought the paracord knife about year ago, and it dulled in a matter of 3 maybe 2-3" "logs" being batoned.

Get what you want, but IMO those two are pretty junky. Other brands deliver much more even at that low end price point.

Camillus is now just a name that has nothing to do with the former cutlery company, slapped on crap imports.
Gerber isn't far behind. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy either product.

There are plenty of knives out there that can perform the "survival" function better without carrying the personal endorsement stigma, and plenty of easy 'research' available on this very forum. The "survival fantasy" is a great daydream and an amazing "info-tainment" money maker, and if I were choosing based solely on which of those two guys I like better, I'd go with Les. But I'd carry my own knife, not one of those.

I would carry a sharpened butter knife before spending a dime on either of those particular knives.

I have both, the BG Pro is a much better knife in my experience, for all the negative said about them, mostly by people that haven't actually owned/used one, the "BG Pro" is a solid knife. I was very underwhelmed with the Les Stroud Camillus stuff, after buying the folder and the fixed blade.

If you want either of those make sure to get the Bear Grylls Ultimate pro knife. The lower versions have very spotty quality control to the point of cracked handles and chipped edges.
Buuuut, that one being around $66 there's a buttload of better quality knives in the same price range.

What kind of knife were you looking for? Blade size? Overall length? Woods processing knife? Chopper? General utility? Survival?
BF has no shortage of knowledgeable users who are happy to help you find what would suit you best at good prices.

Bear grylls ultimate pro. Mine has seen hard use and hasn't had any problems. The Camilus is junk and so is the original BG ultimate knife, but the pro is actually pretty good for the price. I can't see how it could be bad? The steel is equivalent to 440c, it's full visible tang, and thick enough to handle some serious abuse. People around here just have knee jerk reactions whenever the hear gerber or bear grylls. Most have never actually owned or tested them, but just assume they're junk.
But honestly, I would suggest you spend a little more and get an esee 4, you won't be disappointed.

If you held a gun to my head and made me pick between the two I would get the Gerber. I would rather have something like a BK-10, Cold Steel SRK, Condor Crotalus or really any number of other blades, though.

If it's just a matter of brand familiarity, skip the BG schtick and get a Gerber Prodigy or LMF II, made in the US of A for roughly the same money.

I made the mistake of ordering the Camillus Les Stroud before any reviews were out or before I saw any pictures of the sheath. The knife its self was okay (maybe) but the sheath and survival tools have all the quality of a McDonald's Happy Meal toy. I would suggest buying one of the other knives mentioned here like an Ontario or Esee and then make yourself a survival kit to keep with it.

My opinion is that you need to regroup and consider other options. But if I had to choose, I would take the BG Pro.

A Condor will give you the best bang for the buck. Mora knives are great too, but thinner in general. Go Mora for woodcraft, Condor for a beater. Neither should run over $40 if you shop around.

Nether of them two knives are worth your money nor you time. There are far better knives out in the market in your price range that surpass both the BG and the LS knives. Here are a few knives you may want to look at:

Mora Classic #2............................Average price $15
Gerber Big Rock...........................Average price $25
Condor Bushcraft..........................Average price $40
Buck 119.....................................Average price $45
Ontario RAT-3..............................Average price $60
Cold Steel SRK.............................Average price $65
Kellam Puukko.............................Average price $80 (It's a bit outside of the price range but I LOVE this knife)
