These scales are made from Ipe, a tropical hardwood. Ipe is a dense tough wood that is impervious to weather.Each set is hand rubbed with tung oil to enhance beauty and weather resistance. Each set comes with Stainless Steel hardware that will nor rust,corrode or stain your wood. Each set comes with a colored liner, your choice of Red,Green,Yellow or Blue. The liners create a distinctive look for your knife. These scales fit your factory sheath exactly and will not interfere with retention.These are hard use handles that will provide a lifetime of service.

I bought a set of these scales from Tommythewho in red recently. Lets's review...

I love them! They do give the knife a different grip which makes the knife much more comfortable to use. The only thing that gave me pause before I purchased was the fact that the handle covers the bottle opener\wire cutter. Now that I have the scales on the knife, it really doesn't matter. I've always liked the look of the butt end of the knife with these features but let's face it, if I have wire to cut or a bottle to open that's what the blade is for. In hindsight, I'm glad I sacrificed those two features for a little more length.

As to quality, I can see now how hard this wood is. It feels like it will last a long time. You can tell they are hand made. The micorscopic imperfections that show this also show these are mine and mine alone. Safe queen - sure - but these are designed to be used and that's my plan. Once my sheath and strop from Goose arrives, I'll be a happy camper!
