My little BK17 came in today. It came with a nice Cordura sheath and a spare set of handle scales. I put the tan ones on it. I took it out and compared it with some similar sized knives. That comparison is over on the Randall Adventure Training forum. I love it when a small knife has a handle that fits my big hand. I like the scales on the Becker.

I even did a little wood splitting with it today. No problems.

It's a nice little knife, and IMO, a very good value for the money. It has a well made sheath and extra handle scales. Perfect for hiking and light bushcraft. I like 1095 steel. It is easy to sharpen and has decent edge holding. Plenty tough. It held its own with the ESEE-4 and SOG Seal Pup Elite in ordinary use today.

Congrats on a Superb little knife...

It's amazing it fits those canned ham sized mitts of yours..:D

Thanks for the post HD. The whole time they were in proto phase I was waiting on the 16 for the drop point. Now the more I see the 17 the more I like it. I think I'm going to have to get both and try them out to decide which one i like better

I read your review on the other site. Since I've never handled the esee 4 I thought it would have been nice to see a pic of you holding it in your hand since you had a shot of the 17 that way. Just for comparison purposes. Overall, nice review it looks like you put some time into it. Thanks for sharing.

You can't see the ESEE-4 handle in my hand. It is a small handle, but not bad. I prefer the BK17 handle, but that is just a personal thing. In fact, I don't think any normal use would reveal any big differences between the knives. It's not like I put them in a vise and bend them with a cheater bar to see which one breaks first. I'll leave that to others.

Thanks for the review HD, glad you like it.

I have the 16 myself, but the 17 sure does look good.
