So I need a nice to work side-by-side with my Griptilian, and I'm really leaning towards the Becker BK3. Unfortunately reviews on it are kinda scarce and I'm hoping to hear from people who have actual experience with it.

I need something with a fixed blade that can slash-and-chop since my Benchmade does a good job with finer stuff. I considered the Gerber LMF II, the Becker BK2 and even the new Bear Grylls knife - which seemed kinda small to me. But the BK3 looks like it would do what I want better than any of the others. It seems perfect for hacking and splitting wood bigger than what my Griptilian can do. It can probably pry and work as a chisel in case, uh, am stranded on an island and want to build my own dugout canoe.

Or something.

Anyways, if anyone has used it can you give me your opinion of this?

i just got a BK3(tactool) about a week ago and i have used it quite extensively it is a good knife.... not the best but it gets the job done its a big heavy knife(which is why i got it and love it) its a good multi purpose knife good at cutting, chopping, prying, digging pretty much anything you an throw at it it will do decently and ask for more that being said its not the best at doing all those things it s a good balance of each quality its REALLY easy to sharpen in the field (allthough i cant sharpen the V cutter on the top of the blade and it didn't come very sharp, factory it will cut 550 cord but needs work) and the sheath needs slight mods to make it more efficient and easier to wear (just a leg strap and some tape to close up the GIANT belt loop) other than that its a great knife and i cant complain its definately a YAY in my book , if you have any specific questions or anything i have subed to the thread and id be glad to answer them for you

I'm trying hard to get a BK3 in a trade, but it looks like I might have to just sack up and buy one. Check out the Becker forum here. There have been several posts recently about the BK3. Everyone says the belt cutter/wire cutter is too dull, but there have been some good tips on sharpening it up. KA-BAR and Becker make amazing knives. The BK3 was meant to be more of an entry/urban kind of knife from what I understand, but there is nothing to say it can't serve as a very decent woods knife if hacking, splitting, digging and abusing are your thing.

Buy it. If you don't like it, send it to me. I'll give it a good home.

hmm... what do you have to trade everything i own is for sale/up for grabs......... if the price is right and yes that rope cutter hook is a b$#&* to sharpen i recently got some info from a well known fella on BF his name is moose he said to use a chainsaw file to sharpen it then finish it off with a ceramic rod if you could email me at JETFLUFF69@aol.com (its in caps for ease of reading), so that we dont get yelled at by the mods for possible trade outside of the trading forums
