I looked into this little guy because its so inexpensive but is it worth the money? Reviews seem mixes online and my old 7 didn't come with one.

I wouldnt say its junk, though I must say i hardley use it ever, but as i have it on the mantlepiece there has been the rare occasion ive used it to cut cordage. I will also say the only reason i bought it was to complete the family so to speak.

Could be handy tucked away in a parent blade sheath - maybe, But i use my 24 for smaller tasks. I wonder how others use theirs?

I too use my 24 for smaller tasks.

A 2.5" blade is better than nothing but I have small folders I'd prefer to use.

It's too small for me, in all honesty, but it's still a very capable blade. I carved this with my Remora:

My kids and I love the Remora! I've found its a perfect starter knife for teaching my little ones how to carve. I also EDC'd mine for a while  perfect for all your small knife needs. The ffg makes quick work of cardboard!

Junk is be a strong word, methinks. It's a perfectly functional blade made in the USA (the first 13's were Chinese).
However, the size does make it more of a specialized piece. Have you tried it as a neck knife? I wish Ka-Bar made some zytel scales for it.

You sir are a genius. I'd grab a set.

KA BAR / Cutco has their 440a perfect  holds an edge better then quite a few folders I've owned that were made outside North America.

You are a man of many artistic talents! Did you mod the featured 13?

I don't own one, but I've always been tempted because it is the least expensive becker. I'd love to keep it in the sheath of my 9. Also, the stainless steel appeals to me in a little guy this size.

Thanks man. Yeah, I first jimped it, and screwed it up, gave it a finger notch, and wrapped it. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/846551-BK13-Remora-Mod-(Updated-W-New-Mod)

Carving thread. My first carving. I carved a small bead after that, but it didn't turn out so hot. It was too small: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/860709-First-Wood-Carving-Used-The-BK13-Remora

for the size, and price, it's a nice little razor.

junk? your momma :D junk is a bit strong as a starting statement. i would suggest you try one.

i use one nearly daily, to open little things and boxes, and any time i'm in "the shed", because i keep one there.

BK13's are perfect for training the young beckerheads! Handy little backup knife too. Some people really like the smaller blade.

I loved my 13 before it got stolen...was the first fixed blade I used as a edc. Just needs paracord wrapped.

it may just be the blade that I get my daughter (8.5 y/o) for Christmas. she's shown an interest in carving and last night she was all about learning knots (picked up the figure eight and slip immediately). she loves fishing, but won't get near close enough to touch a worm or fish. figure I might grab this little guy for her and do a pink paracord wrap.

I've got my Remora in the kitchen block. It's a pretty competent paring knife, although now that you mention it, if I made handle scales for it that gave it a full-length handle, it would be even better at that role... Hmmm...

No it is not junk - no Becker knife is junk. Mostly one's evaluation of it depends on how you use knives. I'm not carrying it or using it these days but in the past I have done so and I would say I have used my Remora as much as I have used my 9. (Probably because my go to chopper is the Machax.)

It makes a damn good steak knife when out and about...... Small enough to not threaten the most PC of fellow restaurant guests and is under almost all fixed blade restrictions.... Almost....Check ......... Not for batonning knotty oak but will make a feather stick damned quick....... Holds an edge.......
