I just got back from CA and it was a bit weird.... I was staying in Plymouth near the Rombauer cousin’s new Winery and last night the decision was made to get outta dodge early this morning because of the expected winds ....Sooooo They turned the juice off at one am and it was still dark when we were getting or stuff together..Kinda like kid camping in the house when I was a wee tyke...Looked like Amish country... it was still windless when we spooled up and got outta there.... Kinda eerie.... Sorta pre Venezuela without the goon squads and lack of food.... Checking through my kit I found 5 working flashlights and got the three rechargeable ones going yesterday. we had plenty of gas. We had to land at Reno to get go juice for the plane....

I am thinking that a smart person in California would open A well stocked generator, liquor, propane and porn store....one stop shopping for a whatever future!

I was glad to have my Phone and IPad and a power bank to go with them and the flashlights....I need to remember to get another power bank and extra batteries for the headlamp.... I am carrying a headlamp in the man purse along with all the other crap...It takes a little twitch like this to get the mind running in the proper pathways..... Comms, water, a bait of food, light and power for the comms... We never lost cell service but, I am curious as to how long that would last....BTW...DO NOT use your cell phone as a flashlight... A lot of people did that during the attack on the World Trade Center and used up comm juice for light....Always have a long life low output light with you to help prevent panic....I keep a 1 oz fifty hour rechargeable in my pocket always...

I hope all of you in California stay safe and sound and that your stuff stays safe as well.... I have my fingers crossed on your behalf!

It's not "neglect" if you've experienced that kind of trauma....tho it'll be nice to hear your campfire stories again. We'll raise a toast to your health this weekend at the Northeast Gathering - which would not exist were it not for you. Strangely synchronistic...idnit?

I don't know when I'll be back up that way. But sure appreciate letting me know it is OK to drop in to see if you are around.

If I am not mistaken, Overwhich Creek is on one side of the road and Coal Creek is on the other. If I remember right a spectacular view of Painted Rock Reservoir can be seen from the upper end of the Coal Creek road on the mountain.
