I am currently trying to find a way to carry bees wax in the back country for my stripped Rat cutlery RC-4. Well i had the bright idea of the chapstick style of burts bees but after reading more found that it contains more ingredients than just beeswax. Has anyone tried this before and if so what were the results. I guess worst case i can empty a chapstick container and just refill it with regular beeswax.

This is the ingredient list: beeswax, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, lanolin, tocopherol, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, glycine soja (soybean) oil, canola oil,

I can't see it hurting the knife. It works fine rubbed into my face as protection against the summer sun. :)

I don't see anything in the ingredients list that would render doom to the RC-4. If it did I would really be concerned for anyone using the chapstick as intended:)

I carry a small round container (it comes in that) of Carmex lip balm. Works great on dry lips etc, as well as knife blades. I just wipe it off when cutting food.

You're worried that some chapstick will hurt a RAT Cutlery knife?

You'll be fine.
