I am looking for ideas for belt pouches to be used for survival kits - rugged and around 100 cubic inches. Waterproof not necessary. Suggestions?

How about a jute crocheted pouch that can be quickly and easily unraveled to give you 100+ feet of jute for cordage needs and tinder?

Quite creative and functional. I would like to find something(s) at least 2x Altoids tin (a little bigger than the old First Aid Pouch) and ready-made. The kits will be items for a fund-raising raffle.

The M16 mag pouch seems interesting. Tough, secure main compartment, and only a couple of bucks. If I could think of what to do with the two, open grenade spaces. For plastic trash bags?

Out of the several I have tried the TAD Gear OP1 has been the best. I do not know the actual cubes it holds. Availability is touch and go thru them and when not in stock prices skyrocket on other sites. They are currently not listing them on their site. With TAD you have to play their game and check back on a regular basis. Great belt pouch thou.

You can wear any MOLLE pouch on your belt using 2 MOLLE locks from Blade Tech attached to a Teklok for fast on/off.

I have a general purpose MOLLE pouch that I take into the woods with me attached to my belt, it works out great. Dimensions are 7"x3"x4" or so.

+1 to RatDrall, except I don't use Tek-Loks or Molle-Loks. Some pouches have their own webbing attachment systems. If not, I like the Tactical Tailor MALICE Clips as used on the pouch in the pictures.

I use a 5.11 belt pouch that fits and altoids tin, some paracord, a firesteel, a DC-4 sharpener and an AAA flashlight quite nicely.

You can usually find small nylon camera cases very cheap, and in all kinds of colors/sizes. The usually come with a belt loop, and often with a shoulder strap.

I've definitely been through a few pouches for a belt pouch survival kit. My favorites are the Maxpedition 5x7 vertical low profile pouch (70 in^3), the M2, and the M1 as a last resort. I like the low profile pouch because it's doesn't protrude far off my waist and therefore present more opportunity to get snagged. It is also a simple and secure zipper pouch - only two zippered compartments, no extras, buckles, or shock-cord for things to get caught on and add weight to the pouch. I changed the paracord pulls on the zippers below to be snag-less, back when I carried this kit.

I don't carry it anymore though. Nowadays, I carry a canteen pouch with an altoid kit below the canteen, and another altoid kit in a Maxped GPS/Strobe/Compass pouch mounted onto my knife sheath:

Mine is in something called the Kriega Stash. Is is a cordura nylon pouch roughly 2"X4"X6" with an belt loop, expansion gusset, and a bunch of compartments. It holds the contents of an SAS tobacco tin kit, a small knife, an AMK Heet Sheet, and has room to spare. It is intended for motorcycle enduro riders, so it is pretty sturdy.
