There is supposedly a knife maker named "Ben Nevis" (Yes, like the mountain in Scotland.) who makes "custom" knives sold only on ePrey. All seem to be damascus.

They seem to be sold primarily or exclusively by an ePrey vendor in Dearborn Michigan.

Does anyone have any information on this "maker" before I start digging?

I will happily admit I am wrong if proof to the contrary surfaces, but "Ben Nevis" doesn't appear to be legit. I'll be interested to see what you find.

It's not looking good.

Sometimes USA is claimed as origin. Sometimes origin is "unknown." Sometimes origin is ignored.

Claims are of highest quality. Pictures show low quality.

Claim some knives made of finest damascus when they are not made of any sort of damascus.

Claim knives forged for many hours. Is it possible to hammer away for five hours and have a quality blade?

deerborn mich has a huge middle east population and I'm guessing that mystery metal is from a connection. Anything without a well known maker's mark I want to know the person who made it. I'd stay far away.........alabama damascus get a blank grind one out.....So you know and you have it. so you can have it.

Quiet a few signs that this cheaply sourced in bulk, and nothing to do with a custom:
* The maker's mark has been placed at random positions, with little attention to its orientation => sourced and then stamped. The maker is Ben Nevis, the brand is Ben Nevis.
* There are absolutely no details on the knife beyond use of adjectives - awesome, rare, finest, solid, excellent, special, ... - enough red flags already.
* Ben Nevis doesn't show up on Google search at all, except for evilBay listings. Considering the adjectives above, I expected a mention or two in some corner of the internet.
* ...

I can continue, but you get the idea.

Turns out that Ben Nevis is John Q Public's uncle and John Doe's cousin. He lives next door to Kevin John, famous Chinese knifemaker.

John Doe is pretty close. It's not a registered business alias and so is illegal to use for business purposes.

But wait! Since some of "his" knives are made in "unknown," maybe its OK there to use an unregistered alias. Rules are different in Unknown.
