I've been searching for a knife that will take me to my "happy place" for quite a while, and it looks like I've finally found it (for the moment). I normally don't go with folders this large, especially for EDC, but I just couldn't resist. This thing is the full package.

I normally try to caption pictures, but these pretty much speak for themselves. The knife is comfortable in just about every position, even choked up with thumb on the side for fine cutting. It isn't the most comfortable knife I've ever owned, but it is higher on the comfort list rather than lower.

You'd think it would be a nightmare to EDC, but surprisingly even at 3/4" thick, it sits nicely in my pocket. The semi-lowrider clip is just right to be able to get enough grab to remove easily from my pocket. The included MOLLE sheath is a serious winner also. I don't EDC with a sheath, but when I go hiking, I usually wear shorts, and put my knife in a sheath on my backpack's shoulder strap or belt. This knife would still be a total STEAL without the sheath; it's pretty much the cherry on top.

I've seen this compared to the ZT 0200 quite a few times, and it's a very fair comparison. If Benchmade was intending to compete with that knife, then they certainly succeeded. I've handled both and prefer the Benchmade. Keep in mind, I'm at least as big of a Kershaw/ZT fan as I am Benchmade; they each have their own unique advantages in their product lines.

The cerakote blade coating isn't as durable as the DLC coating ZT uses, but I prefer the cerakote. The DLC coatings have a horrid chalkboard texture that gives me the creeps, and they also increase cutting resistance. As you can see, I've already put a couple miles on the knife, and it's holding up great. Benchmade does a really nice job with their D2. I have had bad experiences with D2 in the past, but in this case I decided to give it a chance, and I'm happy I did. It's seen a couple weeks of pretty solid use at work, and with only a few stroppings, still shaves arm hair easily. Speaking of shaving sharp, Benchmade has seriously stepped up the game on their factory sharpening.

I've always been a fan of Benchmade's fit and finish, but I have to say that this knife is one of the cleanest, most nicely done Benchmades I've personally handled. They really mean business with this release.

Enough talk, the pics:

I got mine 3 days ago, and have been EDCing it since, great knife, and really not bad in pocket (don't really like belt sheath carry) compared to the ZT it is wider, has a thicker blade, and shallower grind, but length wise is almost exactly the same size, two good tank like knives, I'm not sure which I like better. Mines 235/1000

Careful you don't fart and cause the omega springs to break and the knife fall in half. Sorry, been reading all the hearsay about the possibility of omega springs breaking and a little annoyed.

I don't normally go for knives that big either but its pretty great. I've got #298 sitting here with me. There are a few Benchmades I want this year. The 810 looks pretty sweet. It will go well with my M4 Rift since it also sports M4. It also looks like the bumped the hardness of their M4 up a couple points which is good with me.

That blade flips open with authority and is fun to play with. Enjoy the knife.

Nice review and pics.....thanks for sharing. An Adamas in Sand G-10 is on my short list of knives to purchase.

Jsut got mine the other day, and there is no numbering on it at all. Is this out of the ordinary?

Too late, I done "cut the cheese"! But no problems as the springs stayed in one piece.......THIS time.
There is a lot out there about how ill conceived the Axis Omega springs are, and how they just snap at a moments notice. I agree that they can break, but any spring can do that. It's when I read how someone has had one that's ten years old and been flipped everyday with NO broken springs that I know I really have nothing to worry about.

On the preorder for the 810 Cotego and think it is going to be a sweet one. My son still uses the M4 Rift I gifted him for Christmas in 2010. He marvels with how sharp, and how well the M4 steel does and holds up.

Course he also like's the Limited Black 275BK I gave him last week! Number 498 it was.

+1 on this knife! Love mine!! If your knife doesnt have a number it prob just isnt the first production run of 1000. What an awesome knife!! I loved my black one so much i had to get a tan one to keep it company!! This was a total coincidence but I happened to get numbers 489 of 1000 on both my black Adamas and my Benchmade 755!! What are the chances of that!?!?

LOL I just noticed you can see some of the bald spots on my wrist, hand and fingers from testing it out. :D

Wow! That's some pretty tall odds... not only getting matching numbers on two knives, but two knives of the same brand, and even of the same designer. Pretty crazy.

Yeah is nt that crazy?!?! I got the Adamas from one of the big online dealers and the 755 I got here on the exchange from someone. Total coincidence!! Both are 489 of 1000! I still look at them like it cant be? My eyes must be playing tricks on me. Sibert designs some tough knives! Good ol Benchmade!!

Yeah, that is a crazy! I got the combo bladed tan handle version right before Christmas, so the Black LE was a no brainer. Probably will get the tan plain edge at some point. Gave my son a tan, combo edge for Christmas, and a Black LE a week or two ago. He really loves both of them as he is like his dad in that he likes 'em big and heavy duty!

why does the black handle look more reflective than the sand color

I ask because I just bought a 275 in the brown color

Nice knife. Is it my imagination or is the AXIS lock bolt bigger on this model?

im pretty sure people complained about the axis breaking due to the big blade so benchmade beefed up the axis lock on newer production 275s

I have carried my 275BK since it arrived at the end of January but took it out of my pocket today for a break. Replaced it with a new folder that arrived this morning, a 275BKSN.:) These Adamas folders are awesome!!

My first BM was a 551 Grip 440C blade - and was purchased due to the AXIS lock. Oddly, it came dull and with the roughest AXIS lock of all of my so-equipped BM's. It's amazing that I tried another BM - but I did - and now have over thirty of them! I've never had an omega spring failure, despite lots of play time with lots of AXIS lock knives.

Here is a comparison to what I had considered my 'pocket bushcraft' knife before my wife shocked me with the 275BK two months ago:

Yeah, the 610 Rukus gets little carry - the Adamas gets a lot. I still like the Rukus better for a 'pocket bushcraft' knife - love it's S30V steel - but the 275BK is catching up quickly. Still, as sharp as the Adamas is and considering how much trouble I have putting an edge back on D2, I dread resharpening it! Here it is with it's included sheath:

Stainz

Stainz, if I haven't said it before, you have an absolutely awesome wife!:)

The finish on the black handles have a wood grain look to be with curves that have the appearance of grain running through it. The sand colored handles, and they are a deep, dark tan, but I attribute that to the cerakote coating the scales have. The scales have striations that run from top to bottom at about a 40 to 50 degree angle, but they are not deep, but are visible. As far there being more black 275's, I think that it's Limited Edition status made it sell more than the other's as these first became available. But if BM holds true to it being a L.E., and doesn't produce more black 275's, then the tan will become more numerous. At least that is what I'm thinking.:)
