Greetings Blade Forums! After over a decade of enjoying this treasury very much, I'm finally jumping and: -writing my first post (oh, nm - looks like I posted back in '12 and '14=) -finishing my new shop for knife making -and waiting anxiously for my 1st BM, a 940-1501 from Knife Works. (oh man...I feel like I did waiting for my first sword...)

I'm looking forward to putting some custom parts on it, but I cannot find any source that can confirm or deny whether a standard 940 clip (i.e., titanium deep-carry for a 940 aluminum) will work on a 1501. I don't see why the holes/threads would be different, but who knows. What about custom anodized screws - are all screws the same on all 904 models?

With all the customizing of 940's I see here (thanks for the pics!), I'm hoping SOMEONE knows...

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your first Benchmade!

The 940-1501 uses the same standard 3 hole pattern used on most of our knives including the standard aluminum 940 which does not come with a titanium clip but the standard black stainless steel 3 hole benchmade clip. However, there are lots of aftermarket options out there using this standard hole pattern.

Oh wow - thanks for the reply =).
You really are the leading edge of knife discussion when then manufacturer responds!

As a follow up, if I may: do you use the same screw size and thread count in those holes across the model?

Also, thanks for your knives. I actually received both the grip and the North Fork for my birthday (GOOD birthday!!) and it's a pleasure handling all BM knives.

If you want a custom clip, OK. But if you are just wanting a deep carry clip, email or call Benchmade and they will send you the deep carry clip no charge! They really are cool about that stuff. Takes about 2 weeks or less to get it.

I wouldn’t hold my breath on that. I required a replacement deep carry clip for my Bugout under warranty and it was ordered in August. It will be here this week. Almost 4 months.

A request for a free deep carry clip for a different knife won’t be honoured for likely a very long time as Bugout warranty and new Bugout builds are currently taking priority.

Yep, most of our knives including the 940 family use 2-56 screws for the clip.

Sharpie, what I CAN tell ya is, I've bought a 940 and a mini Griptilian within the last 4 months and the first one (grip) I sent them an email asking where I could buy one, and got a reply saying they were shipping one! it arrived in about 10 days. When I got the 940, they did the same thing.... for what thats worth
