I just ordered the Benchmade 940 online and should be getting it within the next 2 weeks.
Do any of you have any tips or information to share with me that concerns this knife? :D

As long as the quality control is on point for the one you ordered. You will not be disappointed. My 940 came razor sharp, perfect blade centering and no blade play. It had the smoothest action of any folder iv'e owned. When the axis lock is engaged, the blade was literally on air rails, just floats around freely with no resistance at all. The axis lock is a blast!!

Thanks for your comment and yes, Benchmade has some severe quality inspection issues.
Many people end up with uneven bevel grinds, un-centered blades et cetera.

Maybe I got lucky....but the track record of the knife speaks for itself. You forget its in your pocket, the aluminum handle and steel clip will scratch. You will get over it quickly. I was popping open my bottled beers with the but end after a few weeks. Sadly mine was stolen, so I figured I would give the zt0450cf a shot....long story short, I miss my 940. I hope you get a great example of this knife like I did!

Sad to hear you had it stolen...
I bought the satin finish because my last black coated knife was more prone to scratching/wear and it annoys me when my knife is no longer in pristine condition!
How did you black finish work out for you? Did you get any easy wear on it?

Do you plan buying a new 940 or you can't justify the purpose to buy it again?

The coating was great on this blade, plenty tough and I had no worries. The aluminum handles are what you need to worry about, but shouldn't because its the nature of the beast with aluminum. I personaly like a blade that shows use. As long as it was all from me. I want to buy a 940 again, but buying it again is like letting the thief win. I just used it as an excuse to buy the comparable zt 0450cf. I will probably buy another 940 after I beat up the ZT some more, and benchmade doesn't bump the price up anymore than it is (I got the ZT new for 155.00, the 940 was 180.00 with the zt having better blade steel and handle material). Its just frustrating when I already had a perfectly good 940.

The action and lockup are easy to tune if not perfect when you get it. This is more often in my pocket than any other blade lately because it just disappears in the pocket like it's not even there. Took me a good amount of time and effort to get the edge popping on mine, but now that it's there it is holding very nicely! Great knife!

I want a 940 really bad but then I read threads like this about QC issues. Ugh - decisions, decisions, decisions...

Flick, flick and keep flicking it. Your thumb may get sore but damn is it fun.

One of the all time great EDC knives! I have 5 of them and have absolutely no complaints whatsoever.
Good luck and you are going to love it!

It's my all time favorite folder design, enjoy

I've never had any issues with any Benchmade I have owned. Nor with any Spyderco. ZT I have had to break some of them in but they always smooth out better than other knives after that, like a pair of well worn jeans. But every Benchmade I've ever had had been great. Slightly uneven grinds may happen now and again. It is to be expected to some degree as long as it is taken care of by the company.

Whew! Thanks guys. Looks like a 940 will be in my pocket soon. Quick question on the aluminum handle - does it get slippery with wet/sweaty hands?

I have never had an issue with it losing traction, it has a slightly "chalky" finish to the handle materials that gives it decent grip

If you're worried about scratching then the aluminum version isn't the best option. It will wear over time. The CF version will stay looking brand new for a longer period of time.

Agreed. CF or g10 if your concerned about wear.
