Just look up some of my posts here in General and probably 75% of them tell my love of the Rift.
It has in my opinion the best lock out there. It has a unique blade shape that is very useful and the flat grind comes with some of the best blade geometry I have found in a knife right out of the box. It thins out towards the edge and makes a great cutter yet is still pretty beefy. The reverse tanto also gives it a fairly robust tip. The blade is also quite long for the handle length so it has a great blade to handle ratio. The G10 on the handle is finished smooth so it doesn't tear up pockets but the '3D' machining gives it grooves for your fingers and hand to sink into and gives a great grip. This also gives it a unique look and the multicolored G10 looks really good because it shows all the layers. The thumbstud is close to the handle so it is out of the way but if you flick the stud up, parallel to the handle, instead of out and perpendicular to the handle the blade flies open. You can flick it hard so it looks like it is an auto or you can use less force so it is coming to a stop just as it locks open. Many say flicking is abuse but the AXIS lock is designed with an angle on the blade tang so that the lock is self adjusting. I have been carrying one since they came out (2 years) and I flick it hard and often. One has been in my pocket every single day since I got my first and I flick it many times when I am sitting around and I'm bored or watching TV, and there is zero blade play.
I was lucky enough to get one of the very limited (50) 950-1001 that came with M4 steel. The knife with this steel is my perfect knife. If I could only have this knife for the rest of my life I would be happy and I wouldn't trade it for any other knife regardless of price. Like I said, I carry mine every single day in my right front pocket and I have to carry other knives in other pockets or IWB just so my other knives get carried anymore.
Get one as you will not be disappointed. I will buy it from you if for some strange reason you don't like it. I just traded off my black G10 spare and already wish I had another spare even though I have 5 all together. The black M4 and multicolored are my EDC knives and I have a 950-801 which has carbon fiber scales and I have another (2

) M4 950-1001 as a backup in case I ever lose mine. I tracked down extras not because I think I can make money selling them but because I want to know I will always have one in the future. When you find your perfect knife you make sure you have extras! I just made a wave modification so I can now wave it open out of my pocket which just makes it even more perfect for me although it is not needed and not for everyone.
Did I mention I like the Rift?
