I found this axe today and I can't find out much about it.

I saw a couple of them on eBay but they were priced crazy at 2K a pop.

What is the story on it?

7 7/8" cutting edge, 5 5/8" wide head of carbon spring steel, 17" overall length
Textured Kraton handle
Leather belt sheath
Made 1990-91
 
If you put it into Google image search everything comes up, including this thread that seems to say it's the 170 Axcaliber

Just got this one in the mail on Saturday morning! Thnx dweikum! I like it! This one came complete. Box, paperwork, sheath and Axcaliber.

It's the model 170, better known as Axcaliber. The specs I know on it are: 17 1/2'' overall, made from 3/16'' thick High Carbon tool steel with a molded Kraton handle. The head is 5 3/4'' deep and the edge is 7 7/8'' from point to point.

All I can say is it's a great piece. I'd love to see BM make another piece like this one day.

Truth be told other than splitting deer hind quarters I can't see much use for it.
