Benchmade Blue Lube & Food?

Only lube promised to be food safe is mineral oil. Even then, too much, as with any lubricant, can cause stomach issues. Royal purple does make a 22 weight lubricant that is food safe also, that I use. But it, again, can cause same stomach issues. It is a lighter weight than mineral oil.

if your using it in your pivot and not using too much you should be fine. plus iirc it says food safe on the bottle.

if your talking about applying it to the blade, there are better options like mineral oil.

I wanted an all around CLP safe for food use so I can put a tiny drop on the pivot and after heating the blade a little layer of lube on the blade.

Didn’t want to mess around with multiple products price wise and just sorta an inconvenience.

Think I’ll go with frog lube for all my needs.

Thanks!

I'm actually pretty positive it is food safe. I mean I wouldn't want to ingest it, but I believe it's not a contaminate.

I was in your boat as well but I have found that frog lube gets a little gummy in the pivot and slows down the action after a bit. That is why I switched to blue lube for my pivots.

What kind of climate do you live in if I may ask?

South Carolina. Its gets pretty hot and muggy down here in the summer for sure.
I've actually tested several lubes included the infamous Nano-Oil and found blue lube to be superior for smooth action in the long run without any gumminess. I was actually shocked at how much better blue lube performed over nano oil.

nano oil is snake oil for sure.

as for frog lube its almost exactly coconut oil. not good for a pivot unless you use very very little. heat it to a liquid and take a dab with a q tip and spread it on the metal surface.

I have actually experienced better results for mineral oil as far as pivot lube is concerned. Seems to get less gummy than frog lube.
