Benchmade Bugout v. Mini Griptilian...

There's been a lot of talk about how great the Benchmade Bugout is, and I agree that it is a superb knife. But, let's not forget about just how great the mini-Grip is, too. It's a hell of a knife. I own both knives, and the mini-Grip gets more pocket time. So, the question is, which one do you like better, the Bugout or the mini-Griptilian?

My vote is for the Benchmade mini-Griptilian. My mini-Grip has S30V steel, but the 154CM is good too. I had one in 154CM but sold it and got S30V steel version.

Mini grip wins for having a spydie hole option

The Mini Grip is too mini for my thumb to open it comfortably, although my hands are a bit smaller than average. And I like having the extra quarter inch of blade on the Bugout.

Depends on use. Bugout is great for when I just want to carry the lighest weight possible. Mini grip is a bit more robust feeling and I like the modified sheepsfoot blade shape. Really wish they would have kept the hollow grind on them when they swapped to s30v. My mini grip has a lot of sentimental value, but if I was picking something like that up today I would go with the Hogue mini RSK instead of a mini grip. The slightly longer grip area on the RSK makes a big difference in my hands.

I've got both sizes of each, and I just vote "YES"!!
Both size BugOuts take the Fidget factor right off the end of the scale...
But the Grips are more comfortable in my paws, and they pack just a bit thicker blade under the hood.

I don't have a Bugout. I do have a mini Griptillian, one of the D2 models with green scales offered by Cabelas years ago. For about 10 years, I carried it almost every day. It still gets carried some.

I think the Bugout squeaks out the win.

In order of favorite to least favorite:

1. Full size Bugout
2. Full size grip
3. Mini grip
4. Mini Bugout

I like the shape of the Griptilian scales just a tiny bit more than the Bugout's...They're a bit more contoured, and fit my paw better.
But that's just me...

I don’t have either one, but I have given both the mini Grip and the full-sized Bugout to my boy as Xmas or birthday gifts. I think the Bugout gets carried more, but they are both at the top of his rotation. I have a slight preference for the Grip. I don’t buy OHOs much any more but they would both be at the top of my list of desiderata.

Originally I wanted a mini grip but, picked up a used full size Griptilian instead and have never looked back. If you have gloves on full size is the way to go.

So, full size is the route I would choose. Griptilian or Bugout.

As for the Bugout, it is probably the best all around folder Benchmade offers. I would place the Griptilian a very close second.

I'd hate to have to live on the difference between them...

Grip wins no matter what because it has a thumb hole, benchmade should really go back to designing more blades with hole cut outs and not thumbstuds.

I've been carrying the same mini grip with tanto blade since early 2014 but have a mini bugout that sees a lot of pocket time. Both are great knives. I tend to carry the bugout when wearing shorts due to it's minimal weight.

I like that blade as well...
But the "Benchie-hole" has always been tough for me to work properly...
I'm all thumbs: but in a BAD way!

For me, the sheepsfoot mini grip makes it out the front door most often. The bugout almost never except for back packing in the high country.
