Have you all heard about this? Prices are basically same as retail now, with practically no incentive to buy through Benchmade due to their 10-15 day lead time on many orders. I used it for custom shop but now see no point really. Oh well.

I noticed that too maybe a few weeks ago. Honestly even at 30% I think I only bought one; they're still too expensive for what they are at 70% MSRP. Back when you could get the military discount plus NRALOD code, I bought a lot of them, though.

Good. Based on what I have seen from law enforcement lately they shouldn’t be allowed to handle pointy things.
You just can't pass up the opportunity...I'm a bit disappointed.

Scroll the following page. See if anyone there merits your respect.

Please don’t troll this thread with your anti police rhetoric, this isn’t the political forum. The benchmade discount program applies to government, first responders, military, and nurses. It isn’t a “good” thing or something to celebrate considering the fact that all of them must spend more out of pocket to purchase these knives when so many of them are paid so very little.

Spyderco has upped their support with thin red and blue line knives this year and they continue to give a 50% discount. I have not used it yet but I might soon.
Yes Spyderco has a good program.. and I like the way they went about handling the resellers by limiting annual quantity to 10. Smart way to handle that without alienating anyone.

I regularly take advantage of Spyderco's OpFocus program. It's a great deal at 50% off but the amount of knives you can buy under the program is now limited to only 10/yr because of abuse of the program by certain people.

Never even knew about BM's program because there are/were so few BMs that I wanted to purchase. The 30% would have been nice to get on the only BM that I still want to buy. Oh well . . .

At 15% it's the same discount from MSRP that most dealers are offering. So, there really isn't any reason for any 1st responders/Military personnel to buy direct from BM anymore.

If someone wants to buy a knife from the Benchmade custom shop, they’ll still save 15% over the average person... but everything else is even. But the custom shop items really only appealed to me with 30% off.

Wasn't aware of the BM Custom Shop either. Just took a look. Looks similar to Buck Knife's customization program; mostly just offering cosmetic personalization options. Fortunately, for me, there's nothing there of any interest to me at any price because my only interest is in BM's autos and balis.

I bought a few under this program from BM. I want to thank them for offering the program. Who knows why they lowered the % off. Hopefully it’s not because WE abused it.

I have actually used the Spyderco program and it has been great! They limit you to only ten items a calendar year if I remember it correctly. Unless Benchmade produces something that I can’t live without (unlikely) I will purchase Spyderco knives long before Benchmade knives.

I didn't even know benchmade had a program like that... I have taken advantage of spyderco's program recently for the first time. The only problem with them though is they tend to never have anything decent in stock. Unless you like frn, serated edges, or left handed models. They never have any g10 natives, manix, military, pm2, pm3.... I did get a kapara but thats kind of an off the wall funky design thing. Those kind of weird design knives are about the only thing your going to find in stock... they never have popular models and I've checked quite often.

Though eligible, I have never used BM’s discount program, or any other knife manufacturer’s for that matter, though I have signed up for them and perused the wares many times window shopping. I certainly do appreciate that they offer them, and believe any percentage off is a nice gesture.

I personally try to avoid premiums on the newest latest greatest models in general, discount or not, and more often find better deals right here on the forum anyway. This includes the very knife I have carried every day on duty for the last several years, and which will likely continue to serve me for many more. Obviously, as a knife knut, it’s not even close to being my “only” knife, but it is my dedicated duty knife.

The lack of availability of knives at Spyderco is a fairly recent phenomenon which, I believe, is largely due to demand and supply side issues related to the pandemic.

Add the the fact that they offer so many different knife models and so many variations of many of those models, it's not surprising that it's hard for them to keep everything in production and available at the same time.

Can't say when things will get back to "normal" but the wide number of knives currently "out of stock" at Spyderco is unusual.

If there's a particular knife you want, in my experience, it is unfortunately necessary to check everyday to see if it has become available and then to immediately grab before it goes out of stock again.

A lot of people love the Kapara. It's not my cup of tea but it's back in stock again. Also in stock right now is the SpydieChef which is EXTREMELY popular and I suggest you buy if you don't have one already. It's an easy resell on the Exchange if you end up not liking it.
