I've got a line on a Benchmade Elishewitz fixed blade. It looks like the Nimravus, but there's not a lot else to go on. There is a lot of conflicting information online - basic searches are throwing up G10 scales, aluminum scales, ATS34, 154CM...
Can anyone help with some info? The knife just has 'Elishewitz' on the right hand side of the blade, the pic is a bit fuzzy so I can't determine if it's G10 or aluminum scales. The left hand side has 'Benchmade' and a sheath which looks to be Kydex with a steel belt clip.

Anybassotamce would be appreciated, additionally, what would you conside a good price? The seller is asking $250, which I'd possibly stretch to if the knife has G10 scales.

It’s an older Nimravus. They came with G10 before the went to Al. The G10 version may come with a “locking” plastic sheath (it sucks, per usual with BM sheaths). I’ve had both. The Al handles with the standard nylon sheath is the one to have.

$250 is way too much for that knife. A new one with “better” steel and Al handles can still be had for $180.

Thanks for the info.
What makes the aluminum handles better?
I did notice the sheath belt clip even has the words (paraphrased) 'not designed to retain the knife upside down' !

I have the older Nimravus, older than the one in the pic, I believe, as I don't think it has Elishewitz on the back-side. It is in H2 steel. It came with a polymer sheath (not kydex or concealex), with a rubber-ish belt loop. There is a thumb-lever retainer for the knife, that you flick up out of the way, pushing on the lever to release the knife. It retains the knife GREAT, although if you pull hard enough, you can override the lever. H2 will keep an edge easily as good and long as M4, IME. If you can confirm that it is H2 steel, even though $250 is steep, it is a great steel. And the G10 works much better than aluminum, IMO, as far as comfort. And retention in the hand suffers little with that additional comfort.

As dogboye dogboye said, the G10 is just less grippy. And that thumb-lock sheath is the one I was referring to. My “lock” wore out in a matter of months and it took nothing to override it. I much prefer the (now) standard nylon sheath.

If OP’s knife is the M2 version, it’d be extra rare because it’s a full plain edge. The bulk of the M2 140’s were partially serrated.

Oops.... I guess mine is M2... I guess i got M2 mixed up with HSS. Anyway, M2. Mine is also full plain edge.
I also have a heavily modified Nimravus Cub, M2, full plain edge, G10 scales. I forget what kind of sheath it even came with. I made a kydex one for it early on, and I guess I lost the original sheath.

In the older Nimravuses (Nimravi?), the M2 is definitely the way to go. IMO.

yes in theory it should work fine.
but imo, the problem was tolerances
as the thumb rest notches had to fit
perfectly into every teeth on the lever
like a gear...bad fit.
other than that, its still the sexiest
elishewitz ...
