After getting the teaser for new Benchmade knives, now that day one of Shot Show is in the books, the whole shebang is on display. The bigger "Bugout" is called the Taggedout. It's being released with the same lightweight grivory scales and at least initially with CPM-154 steel. Depending on sales, this is one that I can see getting the Bugout treatment, in terms of tons of variations. It's also a clip point, instead of a drop point, probably to appeal more to the hunting community. With a 3.5" blade it will appeal to people who don't like the tiny Bugout, but it will be interesting to see what the bendiness of the grivory is when it's scaled up like that or if they reinforced it more.
They also went all in on the modern look hunting knives. There's a couple Meatcrafter variants in CPM-S45VN, what sort of looks like a really big "Altitude" in CPM-Cruwear, and the one I like most of the hunters is their scalpelesque bird/trout knife in CPM-154: the Flyway.
I like a lot of what they did with the Anonimus, their bushcraft offering, but I like my handles a little bit rounder. The CPM-Cruwear blade is super slicey at a thickness of 0.114" (2.94mm) and they included a choil built for using ferro rods in (I guess because the spine is so tiny). Being 5" long the length is fine and there's a lot going on, but it's a bit like having an overbuilt kitchen knife in the bush. I just know I'm going to see some maniacs batoning with this thing in their YouTube videos as soon as it's available. Of course, after seeing someone batoning and using a Mountain Saddle Skinner as a chisel, there's probably someone out there who's made an outrage video about how bad the Meatcrafter is at batoning...
There's also the Immunity, a CPM-M4 Wharncliffe, that if the blade was longer than 2.49" I'd have a hard time passing on. With a blade thickness of 0.09" it's officially hella slicey. It'll be irresistible to the small knife community, but my mitts like my knives just a bit bigger.
There's also the Redoubt (CPM-D2), Weekender, and Shootout (tanto auto) that were talked about a lot in another thread.
Benchmade showed off a red micarta handled Adamas with a grey blade that both looked very cool and also made me swear, because I'd recently purchased the OD version, and this one looks a lot better. I'm sure there are more than a few people who have seen more than a few new variations of a recently knife that felt the same way.
