Hey guys , I know this issue has been discussed , but I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Mini Adamas axis lock failing on any of the new Mini Adamas's ?

I did see a video of someone who purchased one with the Magancut steel and showed that a moderate spine wack on a piece of wood did not disengage the lock .

I spoke to a rep at benchmade this week and they said that they were aware of the problem and that all of the "recent" runs -either in Cruwear or Magnacut have no axis lock issues - of course - lol .

How old is your CruWear version ?
Purchased 03/16/2023, Benchmade 273BK-2201 SHOT Show 2022 Exclusive Shane Sibert Mini Adamas Folding Knife 3.25" CruWear Black Plain Blade, Red/Black Micarta Handles

I should have mentioned that I had sort of the opposite problem with the Magnacut version. The Axis lock jammed once with the blade open. I could not release the lock by force or spine whack, but penetrating oil eventually worked. I have been leery of carrying the knife since then.

None of my three Adamas knives will fail the spine whack test. The mini feels the most solid of the three.

Out of curiosity, how many Axis locks have failed while cutting away from you?
None - but none of the other 25 or so Benchmades I have with an axis lock will fail with a light tap on the back of the blade , either . Sure - 99% of the time I'm not going to be doing anything with the knife that would creat an impact on the spine of the blade , but knowing what happens if I do is an uneasy feeling ....

The example of the adamas that I bought in spring this year has solid lockup and withstands any spinewhack tests. I heard of the issiue and tested it. It is my favorite benchmade, close second is the superfreek.

The new Adamas' are fine. It's an issue that was way overblown, and has been discussed to death here in several previous threads. If you're using a knife in a way that causes a violent blow to the spine of the knife, then you should have been using a fixed blade, or a tool actually designed to do whatever you were trying to do, candidly speaking.

I daily carry mine and beat on it and is flawless. Also Ive never had the axis fail on any heavily used benchmade, from my 940s to a griptilian I used as basically my garage knife for prying, baton, etc.

If you’re buying a Microtech with the ram-lok then yeah I’d be worried. The past two I’ve purchased had lok issues. Loose and a rattle in the mechanism from poorly machined parts.

I bought my mini adamas a few months ago and the grinds are even, locks up tight, blades centered, is sharp.
