I have been looking for a Benchmade Infidel knife for a while. Is there any place that has them at a bit better price or is the price controlled by the company? I see them for around 450 to 500 usd. Thanks for any advice.

Shop within your budget. Don't ask for help getting something out of your range. Tell us your real budget and you might get answers you didn't expect.

It's a big knife world out there.

benchmade very rarely go on sale and not all models....used is your best bet for a lower price point, but shop carefully. lots of fakes out there.......

it's map priced...so yes price is controlled by the company.....

I have handled and used many different otfs over the years. In my experience there are better quality otf knives for roughly half the price of benchmade. if you have access to a walk in vendor who will let you handle various brands it will behoove your decision

You assume facts not in evidence. What I can afford is not material. I would not be asking about a $500 knife if I could not afford one. But one who tosses money out the window without thinking is a fool waiting for someone to take his money. I can afford a 10k knife but would not pay that for any knife. So you non answer was no help.

That is what I was asking, thanks for your answer confirming what I thought. I see Optics planet has them on sale for 329 but its a 6 to 9 week wait. $495 is what I see everywhere. I know there are a lot of fakes so I am not wanting to buy one off of eBay or used. I don't have the expertise to figure out if its real or not. Worth it to me to buy from a dealer.

Thanks for the answer, can you give me your advice on what OTF are as good as the Benchmade? I would appreciate the help.

i think the kershaw livewire is better in quality and price. just my opinion, but everybody has one

opticsplanet is real hit and miss....I'm thinking they haven't updated their pricing and once ya purchased it would get canceled by them.

fair enough.

there are lots of good otf choices in various price points. take some time and look around and ask questions.

i totally agree with you JB. iirc they also would not sell autos to anyone without the proof of law enforcement or current military service. may not still be the case. i gave up on opticsplanet a long time ago

I personally think the Benchmade shootout is the best OTF benchmade makes. They're considerably less than $495.

For OTF's in that range it's pretty hard to beat microtech. They have a lot of models and sizes and colors to pick from.

The ultratech is a great model and can be had with magnacut blade for less than $495.

[ve been collecting knives for 50 years. mostly unique, rare or discontinued. honestly i don't know how many. never spent more than 300 for them. even though these knives are now worth double or triple its irrelevant. any knife is only worth what someone believes it is.

Thanks for all the help. J. Doyle, I took a look at the Benchmade Shootout and its a good looking knife. Runs a couple of hundred less than the infidel. I am giving that one a serious think.

BTW, is Blade HQ a solid place to get what you pay for? I have used them in the past but just to make sure for knives that are so knocked off. Just wondering if they are a dealer for Benchmade.

I checked on Benchmade and they will not ship to anyone not Military/police directly. Went though Blade HQ bought the Crater Blue tanto blade. I would have preferred the drop blade but I don't like the glass breaker. I think because these were always on cheap knives back in the day. Also like the idea of being able to put some paracord on it to put around the wrist.

Infidel has a buttery smooth action, but it doesn't inspire confidence - strength - to me. I LOVE my Benchmades, (First 'expensive' knife I collected) and they are solid knives, most. Most Micros are a little more clunky in their action (more rugged, I'd say), but would be a consideration (over BM) at that price point. Might as well get some of those fancy materials and labels.

If you want the BEST otf: HALO, hands down. 😁
