Do the bits in the Benchmade Blue Box Tool Kit fit screws from other makers like Spyderco, CRKT etc?

Torx bits are pretty much a standard size so the blue box does fit other brands but IMO don't buy it. You would do ALOT better with a Craftsman set for about the same price. My BlueBox drivers have twisted and the bit for the T6 actually twisted off. I don't know if they use too soft a metal but I know that I really don't twist hard at all.
Good luck,
Matt

I don't my Torx sizes from a hole-in-the-wall (though I normally don't use holes in walls to tighten or loosen screws), but my Blue Box torx for moving pocket clips and adjusting pivot tension in the BM921 was very weak and broke.

As others have said the BM torx set is of poor quality. It's not produced in the US like most other BM products.

It's a novel idea but poorly constructed.

I wouldn't buy them that’s for sure. I have heard way to many complaints about them. I was searching last night on here to try to figure out what kind of files I should purchase when I read something that makes allot of sense. I am going after Craftsman for ALL my hand tools. The fact that they are pretty competitively priced and if I wear them out or break them, I can go straight to Sears and get a free replacement is enough for me.

****. Just won a set on Ebay for $10.00. Thats what I get for not checking first. Oh, well I will pawn them off somewhere and get Craftsman.

I have had a set for about a year or so and have used it regularly in my maintenance routines on those of my knives with Torx screws that need to be tightened or adjusted. I have never used them to remove a pocket clip or to take a knife apart, however. I am satisfied with them for the uses to which I have put them. I cannot imagine what you were doing with the bit when you twisted it off, Jazzman, or perhaps it is just that I got a rare good set.

Fuller,
The T6 started to twist the minute I started using it but instead of buying a new set, I continued to use it. The entire bit didn't break, just the tip. As I said, I don't twist hard as I know that the screws aren't designed for it.

That's exactly what I've been doing for years. The only thing I've screwed up is the tiniest torx driver from Craftsman. I just twisted it harder than it would take and it's like a corkscrew now.

I've got this tiny cordless "Dremil" tool by Craftsman and I make it work HARD. I should get a big one. I'm just waiting for this one to burn up or something and it just won't give up.

Well, Jazzman, with all due respect, that has not been my experience with my set, so I cannot comment further except to say that I did not mean to imply that you were abusing your set, only that I found it remarkable that it could be done.

I just finished taking apart my mini crkt kff pro using the bm blue tool kit. Haven't had any probs with them whatsoever...in fact I'm kind of shocked at everyone's negative responses, cuz I think it's great. I mean, it's just meant to tighten/loosen screws on a folding knife.

Heck with it. Only cost me 12 bucks shipped. If I break it I will buy Craftsman.

I'll have to chime in on the nifty gadget as a decent tool for what it is.

I had superglued a pivot and could no longer make an off size allen work. The BB spun it right out.

I'll admit I bought it on impulse at a show but I needed the small ones to take a 330 variant apart to clean out the grit in the washers.

Heck, I even took the knife right apart this time, I usually just flex the pivot end apart enough to get the blade and washers out. Frame screws, no problem. Clip scerws, no problem.

The plastic handle should be an indication, to most, what the limitations really are. It is a handy size little do-all case with a clip and just may prompt me to leave the SAK at home. I don't use a lot of torx at work but there's no reason you can't carry any bits you want.

I have to give this product at least one thumb up and anticipate quality knock-offs of the concept. (yah, custom ti dovetailed box with drivers inside!)

Cheers

My BM Blu Bx has held up well, but I dont use it for extreme task, it's handy to throw in a bookbag or briefcase to have with you just in case and under 10 bucks it aint to bad for a pretty blue box with a butterfly on it, takes a real man to carry something like that :P

I use mine only for minor stuff, but even I've found my bits twisting a bit. They still work, but I don't really use them much--I have the Craftsman drivers now.

I had two BM BB's and they self destructed and ruined the screws in the process. Were talking pocket clip screws not heavy duty.Go to Sears and get the Craftsman set .
