I tried posting in the main forum about the Triage, but didn't get much feedback. I've wanted a 915BK-ORG since they came out, the other day I saw they came out with an auto version. I know it has been out awhile, but I have been out of the loop with knives for awhile.

For those who have a Triage (either auto or standard): What do you think about it? Do you ever use it for EDC? I am trying to decide weather to get the auto or the regular folder and honestly am thinking about picking up both. I need a new EDC and it seem like this would be a good option.

What say you?

I'm edcing the 915-org triage. Love it! Great sharpness, excellent rescue hook and glassbreaker functionality and slick design. It is lighter than my old edc knife but I'm not bothered by the weight at all.

As for auto vs manual. I read that the auto version may be hard to close one handed whereas the manual lock is easy to close one handed.

I have the manual and can say it is easy to open AND close one handed no problem.

It is very very grippy which I like too because of the texturing on the g10.

I'd say go for it it is an incredible knife.

Personally, I've never been into knives with features (i.e., safety cutter, secondary blade, etc.) and I've never been into sheepsfoot blade styles. The press coverage for this model has been huge with LE & EMS publications, so there is a certain safety "hype" with this design. I just feel that the stuff is unnecessary.

One could argue that the features are useful, and so on, so it basically comes down to personal preference..

I've got one too. Its a excellent knife and it's made of quality materials. I don't care much about the sheepsfoot blade, and I think it's superfluous considering it comes equipped with the rescue hook. Personally, i would not use the sheepsfoot blade around a person, if i had a rescue hook.

Regarding the rescue hook, ive used mine twice on the job. First time was to cut the pants of a injured pedestrian. The 440C hook went through belt and denim in one smooth cut and i was done before the EMT got his shears out.

The handle material is very aggressive on the pockets. I carried mine for almost a year, and all my pockets are shredded to bits. The positive about the scales, is that they provide a secure grip.

That being said, the knife is very well-designed and as P_Meticoulous said, everything is top-notch materials.

I have since sold my 915 to a portugese coast guard officer and bought a 915BK-ORG instead. I think ill smooth the scales down with sandpaper on this one. If it was legal, I would have bought the automatic version instead, if only for the pointer blade tip.

Here's mine with a small drug (khat) seizure.

It's a great knife but I find that, as mentioned above, the G10 shreds trousers quicker than most.

I got mine because I couldn't get a G10 Griptillian. It is comfortable in the hand, the steel touches up easily, love the deep carry clip, neutral on the hook knife, hate the glass breaker and have taken mine out. I tend to carry a 550 in Wilkins scales more often though.

Have one, has side to side wobble. Repaired by BM, still has wobble, so it's on the sidelines. Nice design, though.

I'm getting one, I posted a thread in general about vehicle knives. This is going in my car after that incident.

I love my Triage. I just love the feeling of flicking the rescue hook in and out. I have a serrated black blade/orange handle. Probably will get a plain stonewashed blade with an orange handle at some point since that's what I would prefer.

I just noticed, that there are slight differences between my old 915 and the 915BK-ORG.

The texture on the orange G-10 scales is not as coarse as on the black G-10. And the rescue hook does not have "Benchmade" printed on it, it is just all black.

Here are the 2. It doesnt show very well on the photos, but the orange one has a much smaller and finer texture compared to the old black one.

Just ordered one. Black handle with satin sheepsfoot blade. Looks like a great knife. How to decide what to carry on what day???

The Triage arrived. I like it.
The handle is abrasive and grippy. For those of you who did sand the handle a little bit how did you go about it? The blade width lends itself to being a working blade for sure. Much thicker than the 746 I usually carry. With the glass breaker tip this isn't a comfortable appy carry knife.

A pretty quick pass with 320 paper followed by 600 or 800 grit sandpaper should smooth it out pretty quickly, I recommend doing it wet, kinda paranoid about the dust getting in my lungs.

Most of the smoothing comes from knocking down the textured points just a bit.

Ive owned mine for a while now, modified it a bit by doing a diamond pattern with a dremel in the scales, acid stonewashed the blade, and hook, you never know how much you can use a rescue hook until you actually have one on your person. no blade play, love the n680. one of my favorite knives.

Sounds good looking. Got a pic?

Anyone edc the 916?

Does the blunt tip blade offer any sort of utilitarian uses other than rescue cutting?

I edc the 916 in my maxpedition versipak colossus . I love it.the tip is squared off and it's intended use is as a pry bar and large flat head screw driver. The blade is ground with a slight twist to counter act the torque from the afore mentioned tasks. It is very strong; and ,as most axis locks are, is smooth as glass. I'm speaking of the action. As a previous poster commented it is mildly addictive to flick the rescue hook. Great tool.! I see it more as a multi tool than knife. Keep it with me all the time.

Yep I've got a 916
Edc since it arrived just before Christmas
Excellent tool and completely people friendly, instantly recognisable as a rescue tool, even by those with no police or medical background
I'd recommend it highly
the blunt tip is great and doesn't limit the knifes usability at all
take care

I just got a Triage Auto from a very generous friend. I won't be able to get it in my paws for a few days but I'm sure excited to get one. Any pics to help tide me over until I get it?
