Best 1x30 grinding belts?

Hi,

I've been using a cheap HF 1x30 belt sander for all my grinding and sharpening, but my coarse belts seem to not cut well and run out fast.

Does anyone have recommendations for the best belts for removing large amounts of material?

See what Tru Grit has to offer. You can count on any info they give. Ceramic is super if you can get them. Frank

Thanks for the replies.

How much better are belts listed as "ceramic" compared to belts listed as "aluminum oxide"?

I've been using 24 grit aluminum oxide belts, and can find zirconia belts in the same grit, but the places you guys listed only went down to 40 grit. Is it really that much better to where the cutting abilility and life outweigh the higher grit?

I use a lot of 1 x42 ceramic belts from Trugrit, they preform well and last for a while. I reckon they would have similar 1x30 belts.

I am a former 1x30 user. The machine I had (HF) was not very powerful, and didn't do real well with grits below about 60 as it would stall. I'd encourage you to consider trying the 40 or 60 grit range - 24 grit is awefully coarse for a small machine.
